Min-Hee
"Minnie!" I head from outside the classroom.
Looking up from packing my back, I glanced at the door and found Jimin skidding to a halt and running in. He had a smile going from ear to ear as he ran over to me. He smacked his hands on the surface before me, making Jungkook and Taehyung jump slightly.
"I got it! I figured out the last bit that we need for our dance!" He shouted.
"Yah! Jimin-ah! Too loud!" I whined.
"Sorry." His voice softened. "Come on! I have to show you! Everyone is in dance room B. They wanted to see it too!"
With that he ran out the room, almost tripping over his own feet. I stared after him, confused, then looked at the other two.
"Well. You two want to come watch?" I asked.
Jungkook jumped up before I even finished asking and ran after Jimin. He fell into a slur of "come on", "let's go", and "hurry up" as he ran out.
"He's excited." Taehyung said.
I had to force down a shiver as he spoke. His voice was so deep and smooth that it almost felt like every sound was caressing me. His features were stunning, up close and every fiber of my being wanted to run my fingers through his hair.
"Yeah. He loves watching me dance. He likes that it makes me happy." I said, zipping my bag. "For someone I have no blood relation to, he keeps me going as if we were blood."
Silence fell, causing me to look over at Taehyung. His features had fallen into confusion as he processed my words. He stood to his feet, settling his bag on his shoulder and pushed his chair in. We both began to head down the hall, following after my brother who was already rounding the corner at the end of the hall to tell us to hurry up.
"I'm adopted." I said, breaking the ice. "It's not that my parents didn't want me."
"What happened, then?" He asked, studying me.
"I was born and raised not far from Gochang. Mom and dad were both very hard working for any and all farm work available. That being said, so was I." I paused and sighed. "Then at about the age of 9 in the spring, mom fell critically ill. She died just before summer started. Dad was heartbroken. His health began to deteriorate. He didn't want his little girl seeing the rest of her life leave before her, so he sent me off to get adopted. Found out a month later that he passed from heart failure."
After a moment of silence, I continued. "I made a promise that day that no matter what I do, I will always do better than my best and that I will always go after what I love. Because I never let my parents down when they were alive. So I refuse to let them down as they watch over me." I could feel my voice crack as I finished speaking.
I felt a hand grab my arm and stop me in my tracks. I turned to look at Taehyung who looked like he was absolutely torn down. Before I could speak, I was pulled into a tight hug. The side of my head was level with his chest and I could hear his heart beating as he held me. I tried my hardest not to cry only to fail as tears made their way down my cheeks.
My arms went up and wrapped around him as we stood there in silence. Jungkook had made his way to us, his former run now slowed to a quiet shuffle as he neared.
"What did you do to my sister?" He asked, threateningly.
"What?" Taehyung asked, vibrating his chest.
"No 'what!' You heard me! Why is my sister crying!" Jungkook shouted, going for Taehyung.
"Bunny! Don't!" I said, spinning and quickly pushing my hands against his chest.
"Why are you crying? Did he hurt you?" Jungkook asked, grabbing me by my shoulders and glaring at Taehyung then looking back down at me.
"No! I was telling him why I was put up for adoption." I said, wiping my eyes.
Jungkook looked at Taehyung before apologizing and holding me.
"I'm sorry, man. I just get so defensive. She's my sister and I hate when she isn't smiling." He said.
I gave a small smile and hugged Jungkook before wiggling from his hold. He smiled, softly, at me and looked at Taehyung before walking back towards the dance room.
"You will get used to him. Trust me." I said as I stood at Taehyung's side. "Come on. Everyone is probably waiting." With that, we followed after the youngest, the only sound to be our breathing and our shoes on the linoleum flooring.
