Min-hee
I scrolled through my phone at their blocked numbers before setting it down and looked up at the sky. Nothing felt right. I was whole with Taehyung and I love him. But I could never forget how Namjoon was with me. My face got hot as I tried to force back tears.
The air was cool and the sky was clear. A gentle breeze played with my hair and the blades of grass that filled the area. I sat in complete silence with my own thought for a while until I heard a soft but low voice.
“MinMin?”
“Joonie.” I choked out.
I heard him set stuff down before taking place next to me. I could feel that he was worried.
“You had everyone worried sick. Jungkook was hyperventilating and crying.” He said, softly.
When I didn't respond, he pulled me against him and wrapped his arms around me. Silence fell but not for long as I broke out crying.
“Everything is a mess in my head, Joonie. I love Tae but I miss you.” I sobbed. “I miss how you'd hold me. I miss how you'd always do something stupid just to try and impress me. I miss everything! It's like once we hit college, we lost who we were!”
“Do you still love me, MinMin?” H asked, confused.
“As what we are now? Yes. How we were? No. I just miss how we interacted. You were my best friend. And it feels wrong because that was how I came about having feeling for you. So it feels like wanting anything like that would be disloyal to Tae.” I said.
I heard him sigh and pull me tight against him. He increased his legs and settled me between them for a more comfortable position. He reached behind us and brought a thermos to my lap.
“I had everyone get stuff together. Because I figured you'd need something to calm you down.” He said, opening it up.
I took it and brought it to my lips, taking a small sip of it. Setting it back on my lap, I gave a soft smile and handed it back to him before giving a sigh. He took a sip then reached back again and pulled out a square container. Popping the lid, he pulled out a sandwich and handed it to me then wrapped us both in a soft fuzzy blanket.
“Just like old times, huh?” He said softly.
I smiled and took another sip of the tea before looking up at the sky. It was spring and the nights still had a bite to them, on occasion. I snuggled into the blanket before his phone went off.
“It’s Jungkook.” He said, showing me.
“Is she okay!? Did you find her!? Hyung! Please tell me she is okay! I need her!”
I looked up at him as he responded then back at the sky.
“I will always be here for you, MinMin. Okay? And if you want me to go back to how we were, then I will sit down with you and Taehyung and we can talk.” He said.
I nodded as a response and took a bite of my sandwich. It never occurred to me how much someone can impact my life until I lose it. But thinking about what Namjoon did for me, back then, made me realize how much we actually drifted. And now? I want nothing more than to have my best friend back.
