"Mama!" I groan silently. So this is what having a two year old is like. I feel as if I get less sleep now then I did when she was newborn. I bury my face in my pillow. We have officially hit the terrible twos.

"Yes, Mija?" I ask. She has been waking up early every morning for two weeks now. I do usually wake up around six thirty, yet my body is not appreciating being woken up at six. At least Aaron will be here soon, I thought. He always tried to come early on the weekends. It's an arrangement we've had since Lina was first born.

"Mama, I want ice cream!" I sit up with a sigh. Alina stares at me with her big unwavering brown eyes. Aaron's eyes. I smile at her.

"No, Mija. No ice cream," I say.

"Mama!"

"No!" I say, firmly. I reluctantly slide out of bed, lifting Alina up into my arms.

"Daddy's coming later. Are you excited?"

"Daddy? Where? I want Daddy! He'll give me ice cream!"

I stare up at the ceiling and sigh. So much for the art of distraction.

"Soon, Mija, soon." Please soon. I kiss the top of her head. My Mija. "Why don't we get you dressed, Lina? Do you want to wear your new purple dress?"

"Yes!" She squirms out of my arms and runs out of the room. She loves purple. "Come on, Mama!" I laugh as I race after her. She is so cute. Maybe the twos aren't so terrible after all.

"Go show, Grandma," I laugh as I slide the last button on her dress into it's button hole. The noise has woken my mom up for sure. Sorry, Mom.

I watch as she runs out of the room, her little legs carrying her as fast as she can go. I run my fingers through my knotty hair. I'm glad she is so happy. My little one is the cutest when she smiles. I smile as I hear shouts of 'Grama!'

I hear the front door creak open. We should really get that fixed. My mom jokes that it's her alarm so I don't try to sneak out. As if I would try to sneak out.

"Hello, Sylvanna," I hear the voice that melts my heart.

"Daddy!"

I hear thumping footsteps. A face peeks through the doorframe. There stands Aaron, piggybacking Alina. She grips his hair tightly in her fist, her smile lighting up the whole room,

"Hello, my Potato," he says. I laugh, standing up to give my boyfriend a kiss. My Irene, I love him.

"Daddy is here, Mama!" I look at Alina's excited face. She loves Aaron just as much as I do.

"I know, Mija." I yawn. Aaron raises his eyebrows.

"Tough night?" He swings his arm around me, the other one holding Lina's leg. I nod. Oh you know it. I can't wait for us to turn eighteen and legally be able to move out on our own. Maybe he can deal with the cranky two year old.

"Someone wanted to have a tea party at two am," I say, pretending to glare at Alina. Alina laughs. Aaron swings her down. It's amazing how much she looks like us. My hair, Aaron's eyes.

"Oh? And who was that?" Alina throws her arms up in the air.

"Me!!!" She shouts. I laugh, standing up. I grab her from behind, swinging her. I'll miss this later. I'll miss being able to hold her. I won't miss the terrible twos though. Definitely not.

"Mija!" I hear my Mom shout. Alina looks up. Aaron laughs, wrapping his arms around me to kiss my cheek.

"Grama's talking to Mama, Lina." There are two Mija's in this house. Lina and I.

"Oh Daddy, look at Sprinkles!" Alina says. She's easily distracted. I pass her favourite stuffed animal, a cat named Sprinkles that one of my best friends Garroth gave her. Sprinkles is dressed in a sparkly pink tuxedo from our tea party last night. Alina hugs her so tight, I'm sure if Sprinkles could breathe, she'd be dead.

"Yes, Sweets?"

"Isn't she pretty." Aaron pets Sprinkles's head.

"Yes. Pretty like your mother." I stick my tongue out at him. He does likewise.

"Mija? Breakfast." I can smell the breakfast tacos from here.

"You hungry, babe?" Aaron asks.

"Yes. Miss Moo over here stole all my french fries yesterday. I haven't ate since forever." Aaron smiles, taking my hand. Alina taps my leg.

"I am very hungry. I want ice cream!"

I shake my head at Aaron. He often caves in to her.

"No ice cream. Mama says," Aaron tells her. Alina makes a pouty face. I see my mom stick her head around the corner.

"But there is Grandma's world famous breakfast tacos!" she sings. Alina's eyes light up. So do Aaron's. He loves my mother's cooking.

"I think some people want tacos. Come on," I say, leading them like obedient puppies down the hall.

We are eating our breakfast tacos, when there is a knock at the door. Who can that be? Aaron also looks confused.

"Aph, did you invite anyone over?" my mom asks. She is feeding Alina because Alina wanted Grandma.

"No. I almost never invite anyone over in the mornings. That's family time." It's true. I never do. I want time to spend with my family. With my mom, my daughter, and my boyfriend.

"I'll get it," Aaron offers. I take another bite of my taco, salsa oozing down my face as he goes and opens our front door. It's bright yellow with Alina's hand prints on it. My mother's idea, not mine. I love it.

Aaron swings the door open. I crane my head to see who's there. Standing in the doorway is Travis. His eyes are bloodshot and tears are running down his face. Concern laces my face

"Uncle Trav!" Alina says, accidentally smacking her taco into my mom's face. My mom sighs, muttering something about two year olds as she reaches for napkins.

"Travis?" I say confused. At the same time Aaron asks,

"Are you okay?"

The words Travis says next makes my mouth drop open.

"Katelyn broke up with me."
