There is pain in her eyes
And guilt in her heart.
Weighing heavy on her soul,
Trapping the woman she once knows,
As herself.
Change is uninviting
She'd rather be content in an awful situation
Never factoring the detriment to her pending circumstances
It's not always about boys
Some pain comes from deep within.
Years of fears that never seemed to bother.
But as she gets older, those thoughts appear to surface.
This murky film has encompassed the top of the perfect hour glass
Yet you all seem to think that it's the normal black girl sass.
She can't see clearly past the ruins you've draped around her.
Or the vines of lies and false expectations.
She struggling to keep her head above this water
Shes fighting to smile when all she desires is a few miles down the highway.
Or the isle,
Ironically their both connected.
If only she had stayed,
She'd have everything that she ever regretted.
