Selfishly Black

Strong and bold.

My skin is black,

But my mind is old,

Cold and dark, this heart thrives!

Never giving up,

Always reaching for the stars.

Consciously woke,

Yet living in the clouds,

Unbothered by the evil of this world.

He lives through me,

Loving me enough, to continue this journey.

Blessed with experience,

Intelligence,

Beauty, in the eyes of the beholder.

Curvy and curly,

Enough sass to keep the devil off of me.

I am a woman.

A black woman.

No texterizer,

No perms,

No bleaching.

Yet, still soft and loving.

Lost before, but now I am found,

Saved by his love.

Confidently,

Effortlessly,

Knocking down the barriers ahead,

Prevailing then exhaling,

Once Ive reached the top.

Not a moment sooner,

Because I, love me more.
