Chapter 15: Kyle

-Ash's POV-

"Alright it's cake time!" Linda cheerfully said. "Why don't you go and take the cake out for me Ash?"

She's asking me to take the cake out?

"Uhh Yeah okay" I said. "Where's the kitchen?"

"Oh it's just right there" Linda points down a hall.

"Oh okay, thanks" I said as I go walking towards the kitchen down the hall.

When I entered, I can see Kyle at the kitchen counter messing with a cake.

What is he doing with the cake?

"Kyle?" I asked behind his back.

Kyle noticed me by surprise.

"Oh Ash!" Kyle scoots the cake behind him when he turned to face me.

Kyle clears his throat. "So what ya doing here huh?" Kyle asked.

"I was gonna ask you the same thing" I crossed my arms. "What are you doing with that cake behind you?"

Kyle sighs in defeat. "Ya got me.. come here, I'll explain what I'm doing"

I raised an eyebrow in curiosity as I walk over.

"So in this cake, I stuffed a balloon inside" Kyle said with a smile. "The look on their faces will be a memory to remember!"

I look at the cake for a moment, then back at Kyle.

"You're quite the prankster aren't you?" I asked.

"Uhh yah I like doing pranks occasionally as a personal hobby of mine" Kyle said. "But I make sure not to prank someone too badly though"

"Hmm" I agreed. "Okay but why pranking a personal hobby of yours?"

"To tell you the truth, it's because it brings me joy" Kyle said. "And I also find funny moments very treasuring and memorable"

"Good point" I said, observing Kyle trying to fix the cake by covering some areas with more cream.

Then I look back at Kyle.

"So.." I said. "Your dad is Ian, right?"

"Yeah" Kyle said. "Why?"

"I'm just wondering why your dad is here and not your mom" Kyle stopped adding the cream at that.

"They divorced" Kyle said as he gets another color of cream.

"Oh" I said.

"Yeah" Kyle said. "But That was years ago though, no big deal. I'm glad she's gone anyway"

I looked at him in surprise.

What?

"Why would you say that?" I asked in slight surprise.
