A Killers Nightmare (Vanoss x Reader)

Chapter 5: Consequences

Y/N/Shadow Pov...

Pheonix...I had no idea you were this strong. I'll have to take more caution while training you again. I'll admit that it caught me off guard, but luckily there was no real damage. Unfortunately, near everyone saw most of my markings... Not only does that mean that I have a lot of explaining to do, but that my objective is that much more critical. 

I have to talk to Vanoss about this, and we have to increase the crews' training and skills immediately. We have to start this mission as soon as possible. Not only do the markings I have haunt me and make me want to scream every time I see them, but now that everyone has seen them now I have no reason to avoid using my powers. No one will see me the same again though. They have the rights to know about it, as much as it hurts me.

I realized I was laying on one of the gurney beds in the infirmary, and that Cartoonz was in here as well, eyes closed but awake. 

"Hey, Shadow. I heard what happened out there, how are you? And it's just me in here so it's just between us." Cartoonz says, letting me know that we were alone and that the area was closed off for the time being. 

"I'm shaken if I'm being totally honest. Pheonix recently rejoined my crew and I hadn't realized how much stronger he had gotten while he was away. It hurts but the damage he did is impressive. But at the same time, I'm nervous. Almost everyone saw my markings and now not only do I have to explain how I got them and why I hide them, but now I'd expect that everyone will want me to use my powers now that everyone has seen what they are I guess."

"I don't know what your exact position is, but I know how that goes. Delirious had the same issue before he joined Vanoss' crew with me. He was so self-conscious about his markings and that he would be judged about them by the guys. Now, since they accepted him, he's a lot more open about them and his abilities. Maybe that can be the same for you."

I look down onto my bed and notice just how badly Pheonix had hit me. Bandages were wrapped around my stomach, sides, my left arm, and left thigh. My clothes that had been scorched were trashed and I was wearing one of Hawkeye's robes for relaxing. But it still covers up all the necessary areas so that was fine. 

"Look Shadow. I don't know how your past went, and I'm sure that all of us are gonna find out more about it as time goes on and we get to know you better. But, telling all of us about yourself is completely up to you. Especially when it comes to leading now this giant crew with Vanoss. He's strict but now I see so are you, and I know you two are gonna be great together."

"Thank you, that was comforting. I needed that." I say, smiling just a little to show I was trying to be courteous. Cartoonz smiles back making a comment I wouldn't have expected him to say.

"I know it's a little weird to say this now, but I do trust you, even if it's so sudden. My name is Luke. Call me Cartoonz or Luke, whichever you would like to."

"Thank you. I'm glad that you trust me, it makes me happier knowing I'm gaining someone else's trust other than my own crew. And if you want, call me Y/N. Only if you want to." 

Luke smiled and nods a little. I'm glad that one of Vanoss' members are beginning to trust me, it means that I still have a lot of progress to go, but I may be set back by what happened with Pheonix. This is going t be a lot harder than I thought that it was going to be...

Vanoss Pov...

God, I wish I could check up on Shadow. I'm so worried about her considering that she was so nervous about her markings and now she had them exposed to everyone. She was so nervous about showing me them so I wonder how she's feeling right now. Probably not good, since she was hardly able to move. Screw it I'm going down there.
