My favourite new sports car.

It's just so simple... A Subaru boxer engine, some seats and wheels... and rear wheel drive. Thats the best bit.

I hate front wheel drive "sports cars". I call them poser cars. Most of them do handle pretty well, but what cars don't nowadays?

Okay, maybe sports isn't really the right term anymore.

I'm gonna go with fun. The GT-86 has been built for driving fun. It's a fun car. It can drift.

That's important... I like driving cars to their limits. It's no fun if you can't get close to the handling limit because of traffic, or having to be able to stop if it turns out there's an obstacle just round the corner... or whatever. I find driving a very capable car is just frustrating, as you rarely get the room to stretch out and find the limit.

Sure, it's awesome when you find that long straight, or a corner with a sightline to its exit, but I prefer to be on the limit, or past it, for as much time as possible. You can't do that with a Ferrari unless you have a death wish. You'll have trouble finding the limit in a modern hatchback really, and when you do it'll understeer, which is just annoying.

Oversteer is far more exciting, and fun... That's what the GT-86 does.

When I first heard about it, I was like, "At last! Thank fuck for that!"

There's been a gap in the market for a budget rear wheel drive fun car, or sports car, whatever, for fucking years. Even if I never get to drive the GT-86, I feel a lot better just for knowing it exists.
