The next morning, I woke up, rushed around getting ready, eating breakfast, hailing a taxi, and rushing to my office at Galaxy News Magazine.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The receptionist at the circular desk looked up at me when I stopped by.
"Um," I looked down at the email on my phone. "I'm here for the Galaxy News Magazine fashion and beauty job for Elizabeth Henning?" I replied.
The receptionist tapped some things into the computer in front of her. "Name?" she asked without looking up.
"Delilah Fontaine."
"Go right in. Left hallway first door on the left," she pointed to her left where groups of people were bustling everywhere. I nodded and thanked her, then headed toward Elizabeth Henning's office.
I knocked on the door and a woman's voice said come in. A 50 something ish woman with dyed black hair piled into a tight bun on top of her head, thin square glasses sliding down her beak like nose, a gray blazer with a matching skirt, and sharp nails was tapping away at a keyboard, eyes fixed on the screen in front of her. "Yes?" she asked in a monotone without looking up.
"Um, hi, my name is Delilah Fontaine. I'm here for the fashion and beauty job?"
She finally looked up and studied me. "Ah, yes. Miss Fontaine. I am Elizabeth Henning. Please, please sit down." she motioned for me to sit down in a chair in front of her oak wood desk.
I quickly sat down and straightened my black skirt. I had dressed in that awfully uncomfortable skirt, white blouse, and black heels. It was horrid. I pulled out a folder with almost all of my good works in there. "Here, I thought you might want to read-"
Cutting me off, she shook her head slightly. "I've already seen all of that. Also, I've seen the wonderful essay you wrote for the One Direction contest! Lovely work!" she complimented me. I smiled gratefully and put the folder back into my large bag.
"Okay," Elizabeth tapped something into her computer and then clicked with the mouse. "You will be on the third floor, room C35, that's your office. Good day." she nodded and then I exited, a smile on my face. I quickly took the elevator up to the busy third floor. As I passed offices one after another, I finally got to C34. As I scanned the small glass walls of the room, I gasped as I noticed a familiar looking platinum blonde head. The door was open so the girl started to look up, so I hurried into my office. Collapsing at the desk, I breathed hard. Why was she here? Shaking the thoughts out of my head, I looked around at my office. The blinds were down, fortuantely. There was a small entertainment area with a couch, loveseat, coffee table, and expensive looking flat screen TV mounted on the wall with a fancy modern fireplace underneath it. The desk I was sitting at had a white glossy swivel chair and the desk was a glass one with lots of different drawers and such. There was even a new iMac.
A knock sounded at the fancy white door. "Come in!" I called to my first visitor. In strutted Savannah, the Devil, looking down at a pile of paper. I quickly grabbed the nearest magazine and hid my face with it.
"So you need to write up the newest article for Fashion and Beauty about the latest fur trend and the newest makeup tips and such. Also, you need to... Why are you hiding your face?" she asked with attitude. I shrugged and kept my face hiden.
"Go along then. Thank you!" I replied, raising my voice up a little. She stepped closer. "Please, I need some time!" I tried again.
The magazine got ripped away. "You!" she hissed, glaring at me. "Charity case! You're working here? Wow, you really are getting needy. I though poor little Niall would have your money problem covered! You're only after the money aren't you? Why are you even in fashion and beauty? You have zero fashion sense and you're not even pretty!" she sneered. Suddenly, she seemed like more than a devil. If that was possible. She quickly turned, not waiting for me to say anything. Then, she stomped out, fuming. The door slammed behind her. What had I gotten into?

When I got back to my apartment, I quickly ate some dinner and dialed Niall on my cell phone.
"Hello?" a voice asked that was not Niall's.
"Um, Lou?" I guessed.
"Oh hey Dee! How's life at the Big Apple?" he asked, sounding jumpy.
I sighed. "Great," I answered sarcastically. "Where's Niall?" I asked.
"Oh he went shopping with the guys. I opted to stay home and watch TV because I knew it would take forever for Niall to choose which five types of candy he would want. So..." Louis trailed off.
Giggling, I flopped onto my bed. "Savannah's here." I stated simply.
He coughed. "What? Savannah the devil is in New York?" he asked, not believing it.
I nodded even though he couldn't see it. "Yep. She's my neighbor at the offices. She's gonna make my life living hell..." I noted.
"Well, that's not good..."
"Tell me about it!" I laughed lightly without any humor.
"Get to bed, it's totally fine. Call us if there's any trouble. Oh and Niall said he would Skype you tomorrow."
"Thanks Lou. Tell the boys I miss them!" I replied into the phone.
"Sure, goodnight!" The phone clicked off and I set it on the nightstand.
Life would turn out just fine, I told myself.
Just, perfectly fine.
