The house was no longer dark. I look back at Jason, take a breath, then open the door. Jason holds it open to let me go through first.
"Shade?" Kayton asks softly. He looks worse than when I left. I keep my eyes down and grab Jason's hand. I lead him to my room where the door hasn't been touched. I hesitate and slightly back up.
"Your room?" Jason asks. I nod so he opens the door just enough so he can get it and not have me see anything. After a minute, he comes back out, grabs my hand, and slowly pulls me into the room. I look over to Jasmin and see her covered with the blanket from her bed. I tighten my grip on Jason so I know he's still there. He lets go slowly and bends down beside her. He slowly picks her up like if she was a baby, then looks at me to lead the way. I nod and open the door slowly. I lead him through the kitchen and hold open the back door. He puts her down softly on the grass and grabs the shovel leaning beside the shed. He starts digging under the one big tree in the corner of my backyard. I grab the shovel from inside the garage and start helping him dig. When the hole is dug, he places Jasmin in it. "Did she have a favourite toy?"
"Ya, I'll go get it," then I hurry in the house and grab her stuffed bunny. This was the only toy she ever played with. I bring it out and place it beside her. Then, with a final goodbye, we cover her with the earth. I must've cried out all my tears earlier cause no tears come. Jason puts his arm around me and I feel like everything will end up being okay.
