Able had spent the last two days traveling to Site 19, along the way he kept his head down by taking many fishing routes to conceal his tracks. So far no one had noticed him as he had put on a more traditional fisherman's outfit and cap. He took a small fishing boat down the river when he saw a boat near his. He decided to stop the boat to fish. Able looked at the other boat which had a old fisherman in it.
"Good Morning sir."
Able greeted the fisherman humbly as he took out his fishing rod and began to prepare it.
"Mornin' Sir."
The fisherman greeted Able back, he was already fishing and had already caught a few small fish.
"You come here often sir? I haven't seen you here before but you look like you've been fishin' for awhile."
The Fisherman looked at Able. Able chuckled softly.
"You don't know the half of it sir. I've been fishing since I was a child. I've caught fishes twice, even thrice my size."
The Fisherman nodded at Able as he casted his rod. Able casted his rod too.
"Sounds like it's a family thing. My father and his father before him used to fish till they put a tax on fishin' supplies. We couldn't afford it after a while and y'know.. Fishing was the only thing keeping us afloat with our bills so.. Everything began to fall apart."
Able nodded. He had experienced Hardships too, famines and such.
"We all have our hardships, did you ever pick up the pieces? So to speak."
The fisherman frowned and shook his head.
"'Fraid not.. I was the only one who ever got out of debt. They never made it and it took a toll, my father committed suicide forty years ago. I miss him.."
Able nodded softly with respect.
"I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my father too, not to mention my mother too. I've lost so much but I have nothing to show for what I've gained.. I'm on a journey to change that."
The fisherman nodded.
"You remind me of when I was younger. So strong, so full of hope. I wish I had your mindset when it started to fall down. You're a good kid, stay that way."
Able nodded once more softly. It was touching, really and he started to feel a bit of humanity. He felt the rod tug and he began to reel in.
The fisherman pulled in a small fish.
"I can't catch as many fish as I used to. The fishes are my only source of income and.. I'm trying to get enough money to put my wife into hospice."
Able pulled up and a fish sprang from the water. The fish landed in the fisherman's boat and the fisherman began to give it back to Able but Able stopped him.
"No, it's okay. You need it more than me. I'll help you fish."
Able casted the rod again
"Really? You'll do that?"
The fisherman's old aged eyes lit up with excitement and hope. Able nodded.
"Yes, I've picked up my pieces. I'm going to help pick up yours."
The fisherman smiled grateful. Able smiled back as the two began to fish together. The journey could wait, Able wanted to help the fisherman finish his journey first..
