I was worried a bit. How does one like me start playing Buddyfight without a buddy? Where could I even find a buddy?
"Already onto a great start. We have a deck all ready to go!" Baku exclaimed.
"But where do I find a buddy?" I asked. I myself was very confused. Considering I was a scientist.
"Well... you could... draw a card from your deck." Uki shrugged.
"But I opened a pack and got a buddy rare card! That's how I first got Drum..." Gao mumbled.
"Well then. Let's go find a pack and draw a buddy rare card!" I exclaimed.
"It's not all that easy hun..." Uki mumbled. "People struggled getting a buddy rare card. Gao's case was just pure luck..." She sighed.
"I'm confident! We'll get the buddy rare card!" I exclaimed. Even though it was one in a million chance. I would get a card. For sure!
While we were pulling cards from the magic world packs. It gave me time to bond with the four. Specifically, Gao and Tasuku, they were strong card fighters and it would be amazing to battle them! When everything is in order that is...
"It's no use." I mumbled. Opening up another pack.
"Giving up already?" Uki asked.
"N-no! I would never! I was talking about something else..." I mumbled. How could I get back home? This was a horrible thought. Was I stuck here?
"I guess you have a lot on your mind..." Tasuku looked at me.
I sorta nodded as an answer. "Yeah... the fact that I'm questioning if I'll ever see my family's faces again..." I'd sigh. Remembering the face of my mother Jenna and my father Morro, and my big sister Petra.
"What happened to them?" Baku asked.
"Nothing! Just the fact that... we were... separated..." I lied. Even though it was true, I can't bring up the fact that I was from a different universe. Would they think I'm crazy?
"I see..." Uki sighed.
"You'll see them again..." Gao reassured me.
I gently smiled. Pulling out the four cards in the pack. All seemed normal at first. I was getting tired and doubted the fact the fourth would be it... I pulled it out. It glowed golden as it flew out of my hand. Into the air. The five of us stared in disbelief...
"H-hello?" A girl asked. Appearing from the card. Sitting on her broom.
I looked up. Yelping in panic as I jumped back.
"In need of a buddy? Well here I am! I'm the Witch of Mischief, Iris the Trickster! But you can call me Iris." Iris smiled wide.
I looked at Iris and smiled softly. "Nice to meet you Iris. I'm Paige." I answered and smiled.
"I'm now your new buddy!" Iris smiled widely
Uki chuckled softly. "Buddy's taken care of. Get used to bonding with her. Cause she's your best friend."
"Oh I'm not losing this friendship..." I looked at Iris and smiled softly.
"Your first battle! We need to play!" Gao exclaimed.
"come with me. I'll arrange the battle." Tasuku took the group down to an arena where we could play. "Paige. You might need this..." he said. Handing me a device. "With this. It can be used as a core gadget. Allowing you to luminize your deck." He said.
I slowly grabbed the device. "what is it?"
"Every fighter gets a core deck case given to them by the Buddy Card office. Every fighter who becomes friends with a buddy that is." Uki smiled.
I looked at the Core Deck Case. It was white in color. With a blue gem as it's centerpiece. It looked amazing...
During all of this, Baku was messing around with my deck, or rather, building it. Which I didn't mind. In fact. I didn't even notice at first.
"Get into positions. The game will be explained as you play." Tasuku smiled. "Good luck Paige. You'll need it."
"Oh I don't need luck. I'll be sure to win this!!" I smiled.
Baku handed me my deck. "Good luck Paige." He smiled.
I clenched my deck and smiled at him. "You can count on me, Baku!" I smiled widely. Before walking onto the field with Gao.
Gao and I went to opposite sides of the field.
"Prepare to lose!" Gao chuckled.
"In your dreams!" I chuckled softly.
"This battle is between Paige Harris. A newbie to the game of Buddyfight and Gao Mikado, who has played the game for some time already." Tasuku announced. "Fighters ready?!" He exclaimed.
Iris and I were ready. Iris held the Magic World flag. Gao and Batzz were ready. Batzz held the Dragon World flag. We both nodded.
I waited for Gao to make his first move. My eyes were focused on him as the instructions were said to me from Iris.
"Release the power of the dragons. Dragon blast fury, luminize!" Gao exclaimed. Sliding his hand from left to right as six cards appeared.
I glanced at Gao. "My turn..." I shivered. Taking a deep breath. "Spells galore, release each spell one by one! Magic World, luminize!" I exclaimed, sliding my hand from left to right as six cards appeared before my eyes. Our battle soon was ready to start.
"BUDDY FIGHT!" Tasuku exclaimed.
"Time to raise the flag!!" Gao and I exclaimed in unison.
"Dragon World!" Gao exclaimed as Batzz lifted the flag.
"Magic World!" I exclaimed as Iris lifted the flag.
"Gao is up first!" Tasuku exclaimed.
Gao had this smirk on his face. Like he knew he would win. But tables would turn... soon enough... "I call to the center, Thousand Rapier Dragon!" He exclaimed. Lifting up the card as the monster appeared.
I gasped in surprise.
"Go in." Gao chuckled.
Before I knew it, the dragon was coming for me. I put my arms up for defense as the dragon attacked. Bringing me down to eight life points. If I hit zero. My game is over...
Gao and I glanced at each other...
Our game started today, and only one will be declared the victor.
Author's Notes: I finally finished chapter 1 after months of research. I didn't know how to do the match so I referenced the second episode of the first season of Buddyfight. Stay tuned for chapter 3. The final to the Buddyfight X section of the story.
