Arthit’s P.O.V.
Kongpob was stuck, more like frozen, like a robot who was glitching, he was frozen with the chopsticks in his mouth and then he chocked, coughing and moving away.
“Hey, I didn’t mean it seriously…” I tried to hide my own embarrassment while trying not to look at him.
“Wh… What?” Kongpob finally seemed to get the sense as he looked up at me.
I had never seen that cheerful guy ever get so flustered and worked up.
“I'll pay you.” I spoke up.
“What! What the hell do you think of me?” Kongpob shouted this time, several eyes fell on us as he slammed the bowl back to the table and stormed off from the restaurant.
Shit!
“Kongpob!!”
I caught his elbow as he tried to yank my hand away but he forgot that I was stronger here as I pulled him back until he was facing me.
“Look, P', I was really just joking and pulling your leg all this time… I really had no idea you are into men otherwise I wouldn't-”
“Shut up! Will you?” I said sternly until he finally seemed to calm a little.
“I don’t…. I have a deal for you.” I said.
He furrowed his eyebrows as he stared clueless.
I sighed before finally letting go off arm and closing my eyes.
Oh god… I was really going to do this.
“You’re in need of money… I have this little desperate moment going on, and I had to stop my family from fixing me up with… A girl I have no liking for.” I said.
Kongpob tilted his head a little as he finally seemed to pay attention.
And gradually I told him about my lie and for some strange reason he had the same “You should talk it out with your family” advice for me like Knot.
“Look, I can’t, and the only way out is presenting someone that’ll shut their mouths.” I said.
“So what exactly are you pointing here?” Kongpob asked.
“I’ll pay you, you just have to act as my boyfriend infront of my family.” I said and he immediately rolled his eyes and started turning away.
“Nong!”
“Look, P' Arthit, as much as I respect you as a senior, I'll try to put it as kindly as possible, this plan of yours is not going to work and you’ll land up in a mess, this whole thing is ridiculous.” Kingpob said as he gradually left.
I face palmed at my own self before I accepted yet another defeat.
How in the name of hell was I ever going to find someone who could agree with me?
What I hadn’t expected was the sudden turn that Kongpob took.
I was with my hazer squad by the canteen, as we were studying for the upcoming class test when Kongpob interrupted out of nowhere.
“Hey nong, why are you toiling away your time? Don’t you have your basketball practice?” Bright spoke up and I realised Kongpob standing, looking straight at me.
He looked serious, with a passive face and I was intimidated, I really was.
“I needed to talk to P' Arthit.” He said.
I was scared, I really hoped he didn’t talk about my ridiculous plan to anyone.
“What is it?” I tried to act nonchalant but I knew I was failing miserably while Knot looked at me a little in concern.
“In alone.” He said.
The hazers glanced at me, as if asking if there was some kind of fight going to break, should they intervene.
I shook my head as I got up and walked with the nong away from the table.
I almost found myself jump when he suddenly stopped and moved closer to whisper something to me.
“Kong!” I almost hissed before he held onto the hem of my jacket and whispered an amount of money. It made sense.
He was in, he smiled.
“That’s too much money for this, did your bookshop job really paid you this much?” I started to bargain.
“You’re walking on thin ice, P', and anyway, bookshop job didn’t require me to be someone’s boyfriend.” He said.
I closed my eyes, he was standing too close to me and it was getting me flustered, I could almost feel the other hazers glancing at our direction.
“Okay.” I sighed slightly as I rubbed my forehead and moved a little away.
He smiled wickedly, he was really not going to prove easy.
“Saturday, morning at 9, be ready, I'll pick you up.” I said.
He nodded before he smirked and extended his hand.
I shook my head in annoyance before shaking his hand into the deal.
“Study hard, P' Arthit.” He spoke in the same flirting tone before he left and I had to walk back to the curious hazers.
“What was that?” Tutah asked, side eyeing.
“Nothing, he had something to ask about.” I lied and gratefully no one questioned as they nodded and got back to their books while Knot glanced at me and then smiled slightly as if he was already aware about what had happened.
Well, I had no doubt he must have understood by now.
But atleast I had this thing worked out for now.
