My day has been hectic in the office. We are running close to some deadlines and are working on some new advertisements. I am more than ready to call it a day.
My phone rings, forcing me to take a moment to myself. I, literally, have been busy since morning. I haven't even texted my husband.
"Hi, Gee. Don't worry, I remember we have dinner together. I am more than looking forward to it."
"Well, it's good that you do, but I was calling to remind you of what I said to you already. Bring her along, Mo. Let's get the introductions out of the way already."
I groan into the phone. I want to spend quality time with just my friend, but it's just like her. If there is someone new, she will always be that person to make them feel welcomed.
"Mo, don't be like that. Is it that bad?"
"It really isn't, Gee. I just wanted, you know, just us."
"Shhh, I didn't say she will tag along always. Bring her. It's the right and nice thing to do."
"Ok, ok. Just this once. See you soon, Gee."
I hang up the phone before she can say goodbye.
I don't have a problem with Olivia. As a matter of fact, I find her to be cool, but after the long day I've had, I kinda just wanted to be with my friend. Oh, well! Change of plans.
I check my watch and see that it is already after five. I pack up my things and get ready to leave. I have to meet Gladys at 6:30, and I don't know if Olivia is one of those persons who takes a lifetime to get dressed. I can't stay after work, just in case she is.
