~5~

Admit it.

" Now Cy, " he started observing me while walking in circles, just like in detective movies or whatever. " ... explain."

" Explain what?" I asked innocently. I decided to go for this one since it's more convenient. I feel really uncomfortable telling the whole story how I met her. I don't want to crush his dreams since I confirmed there's something going on between the student body president and Lily.

" Cy," he patted my shoulder once he stopped going detective-guy. " ... that's the 20th time you've asked that and this is also the 21th time I'll be asking you what is going on between you and Lily."

I sighed and returned the pat, " This is the 8th time I'll be saying: nothing."

" Is that really the 8th time? I didn't count it. " he said confused. This is why I love this guy. He easily gets distracted (insert goofy smile).

" Really? Wait, I think it's the 3rd? or 5th? Wait, let me remember." I acted confused too, playing along.

" Yeah Cy, like I'll forget my true motive." This is his worst personality. He always make you expect. Damn him.

I didn't say anything. I just brushed my hair by my fingers and frowned. This is really frustrating. Urgh.

" Admit it."

" Nate, THERE. IS. NOTHING. GOING. ON. BETWEEN. THE. TWO. OF. US" I replied and gave him the stop-now-or-I'll-kick-your-ass-and-shove-it-in-your-mouth tone.

" You know, you're showing the signs of a guilty person." he said with a smirk.

" You know, anytime now you'll be appearing in the news known to be the kid who was murdered by his friend for being stubborn."

He gasped, " Nate, h-how could you?!"

I rolled my eyes, " Yeah, show that acting skills of yours and you'll be ending your life sooner than you think."

He furrowed his eyebrows and also did the roll eyes thing, " Why wouldn't you just say it."

I slumped my shoulders and replied, " Why wouldn't you just admit there's nothing. Maybe she's just curious because she haven't seen me before." I wish that will work.

He stopped and thought for a minute.

(drum roll ...)

" Hmm .. You got a point."

I almost did a happy dance. It worked. I've never been happy in my whole life. Escaping him for me is a miracle. Maybe I'm just exaggerating since ... Let's admit it, Nate's an idiot. No ' kind of'.

" Nate, it's not I got a point. I think that's what it is." I confirmed.

He sighed. " Okay. I believe you. Sorry for doubting you. "

Finally!

" Yeah, you should be sorry." I said. I'm not letting this opportunity go. Nate rarely apologize. I think he only does this to me. I must be a god.

He rolled his eyes, " Don't get it over your head. I know the word 'sorry' is not in my vocabulary but just this once, it appeared. But once I knew you were lying ..." he seemed to stop and think then continued, " ... just, think of the worst scenario."

When I first met Nate, I really didn't expect we would be on good terms or friends. We're not really alike and I thought of us as two different things that will always negate each other. But seeing things now, I was wrong. He didn't seem to be bad. He was worse.
