Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes turned into long hours under the excruciatingly hot sun. They frequently took small 5 minute breaks under thick, shady tree branches, switching Jungkook from one person's back to another and resting their tired legs. After that it was back on to the path of survival. They quickly became dehydrated, the sun and walking slowly taking it's toll on their body. Namjoon had made a makeshift clock, which consisted of a twig and the shadow of the sun, and noticed it was around 12 o'clock. The exact time the sun peaked the highest.
The sun of course affected their patience. They were all very irate over the smallest things, like the constant sound of birds chirping above them or the bothersome snap of twigs under their feet. Thankfully they weren't to angry to the point of murdering each other. At least not right now.
"Jimin I swear to God if I hear your boots squish in the mud like that one more time, I'm gonna murder you and your unfashionable boots," Seokjin said a little ticked off, but not serious.
"Okay first and foremost, we wear the same damn boots idiot. And secondly, it's kind of hard trying to walk quietly when you have a wounded, sleeping teenager putting all of his weight on your back," Jimin retorted.
Seokjin raised his voice. "Well maybe you should-"
"Wait, wait, wait. Seokjin did you just say mud?" Yoongi asked.
"Yeah. Why? All it's doing is being annoying," Seokjin sneered towards the ground.
Namjoon spoke up. "Because where there's mud, there's water."
At the sudden realization of Namjoon's correct statement, the boys listened in attentively for any sounds of possible water flow coming from anywhere around them. Anything ranging from a small pond to a roaring waterfall would be perfect for them. Just a sip of water is what they desired.
Hoseok gasped, which in return caught the attention of everyone. "I hear some water hitting against rocks and birds chirping over there. Come on!"
Hoseok ran past the others and they followed, trusting Hoseok's word and hoping the boy is right about water being near by.
"I hear it to!" Jimin cried out in between breaths.
Whipping past one last tree, they finally skidded to a halt when a large pond was before them.
Yoongi didn't know if he was just dehydration speaking to him or if the pond was actually one of the most beautiful ponds he's ever seen. It may be both. The water sparkled like aquamarine crystals glistening against the hot sun, practically asking to be drank by the 7 thirsty boys in front of it. Lovely green plants stretched and grew from the bank of the pond, tiny flowers growing out of the plants. Vines draped down from the rocks, barely touching the water and swaying gently in the wind. Algae laid here and there, on the rocks, tress, and some creeping onto the muddy ground in front of them. It wasn't the dehydration. The pond was very alluring.
