Opal
Opal White's tears began to overflow as she grasped the neck of the empty bottle of crimson colored wine. Her salty tears clouded the vision of the small white colored note she was writing, causing it to be stained with tear drops. The apartment was filled with a soon to be deadly silence as Opal quietly opened her small yellow bottle. Small sobs began to escape from Opal's lips as her tears fell rapidly, crashing on her ebony skin. She slowly wiped them away as well as the small amount of snot from her nose. She took deep breaths as she dispensed 10 white pills into her hand. They were only sleeping pills but Opal prayed that they would get the job done. She took 4 at a time, chasing it all down with a pre-opened bottle of vodka, this is how she wanted to go, quietly. Opal wiped her final tears before she stumbled back to her bedroom. Once she reached her desired location Opal walked towards her bed, slowly getting on her knees. She closed her eyes and rested her now heavy head on her enclosed palms. She quietly cleared throat before speaking to the man above.
"Lord, please forgive me, for this is the biggest sin I could ever commit. I am tired, I am ran-down, I just want to reunite with my son. Please tell me he's doing well? I will regret this, as soon as I see my daughter from above my heart will ache and I will beg to return. Do not let me. I will watch her live in this cruel world from a distance, as selfish as this seems it is for her own good. For I am a pitiful excuse for a mother. Please, please protect Venus, keep her away from the devil and his antics. Amen."
Opal struggled to open her eyes as she crawled into her bed, burying herself under the thick covers, taking her last deep breath, she whispered out, "Goodbye Venus."
