**Sunday**

I can't wait to feel the salt water on my feet and take in the fresh air today because God only knows I need it. Beck has been texting me nonstop this morning since I got home from Nate's house to see when I would be ready to meet the trio at SM Beach today.  After showering from my chaotic night and putting my turnouts in the wash, I am ready to go... Luckily I don't live too far from the pier so I decide to walk so I can enjoy the scenery solo for a bit. As I get out of the residential area and onto the main strip, there are people bustling around at different shops. As I start to see the edge of the pier, a truck comes flying up next to me honking its horn and forcing me out of my thoughts.

"HEY SEXY!!!" Beck yells out  of the passenger window of the truck.

I look past her to the drivers seat and see Kale looking at me with a grin. "Shit Beck. You guys scared me," I say laughing with my hands on my hips.

She beckons me over and replies, "get in the truck bitch! We have shit to do!"

Beck opens the passenger door and gets out ushering me to sit in the center, next to Kale.  I'm not shocked in the least and I'm also not against her clever plan. I climb in willingly and take in Kale's smell as I do so. The mix of his usual woodsy scent and the ocean is so alluring to my nostrils. I smile and wrap my arms around him. In return, he reciprocates my  gesture with a longer hug than I had anticipated on. I feel like my body is on fire from his sultry touch! It's as if he is the flame to my wick and the  wax is the sweat that is now trickling down my sun kissed body. I would be lying if I said I hated it but I break away and suspend our hug for the moment.

I turn to Beck and her smile reaches from earlobe to earlobe. "Aww!! Look at you both! Appropriate sparks are flying!!" She laughs and gives me a hug as well.

I suppress the overflowing emotion that is rolling like a tidal wave through my body. I look around and realize Christian with them. "Did Chris bail or what?"

Beck shakes her head and rolls her eyes. "Nope! Even worse! He is bringing Paisley and you don't want to know how wasted they got last night. Kale and I felt like fucking babysitters!"

Wow! I am actually relieved that my best friend is a man whore and took one for the team with that bitch.  Thank goodness she didn't sink her wretched claws into Kale last night. I guess I have no right to fret about it due to what I did with Nate. But still, the relief is definitely sinking in when I hear this new revelation.

I decide to laugh at Beck's remarks and reply, "Figures! Typical Chris." I don't really want to show my friends how elated I am that it was Chris and not Kale that she probed herself into. As much as I don't want Paisley here today, since it was supposed to be the four of us, I am glad she is gunning for Chris instead of Kale.

After a couple of minutes, we arrive at the pier and park in the lot. The three of us exit the truck and Chris and Paisley pull in right after. Chris hops out, not waiting for Paisley and runs up to Beck and I, throwing his arms around us. "Hey ladies!" He laughs and gestures with his hand for Paisley to come along. Paisley follows in a hurry as we all walk along to the shore. I feel my phone start to vibrate in my bag and notice Kale, on my left, looking down at it to see who the caller is. I look over to my far right at Paisley and see her fingers hurriedly typing away at the device that she clenches like it's her lifeline. Considering it is Nate on the phone calling me, I can only assume she is texting him saying where I am right now. I am with my friends and he should be okay with that! I don't know why I keep telling myself that because I know he won't be especially since Kale is here. I could be paranoid and maybe she is texting someone else or being resourceful by searching for a good restaurant on the internet but I highly doubt that. Dumb bitch! The worst part is, I don't know why I can't bring myself to answer Nate's call right now. I look back at my phone and put it back in my bag without hesitation. I then look at Kale, and can't help but smile and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and feel the warmth in his presence.
