**Thursday**

We got a few medical calls throughout the night and fortunately, I was able to get up and function properly. I have to say, the pill helped to calm my nerves and I did sleep fairly well. Maybe Nate really is my knight in shining armor? As of right now, he is the only happy thought on my mind...

It's seven in the morning and my shift is over! I honestly think that Nate and I actually pulled it off without anyone noticing! I walk out of the station to my Jeep and get in to head home. Just as I'm about to back out, Nate walks up to my drivers side window.

He ushers me to roll down my window. "Be ready for me to come get you around eleven. We'll go shopping for something for you to wear to the party Saturday and then head to the gym."

I see our co-workers fleeing the building to head to their vehicles so I keep it brief. "See you then."

Nate walks away to his car and I roll up my window. Time to go home and relax for a bit before it's time to workout! I might actually learn a thing or two and get to see Nate work his magic. It actually turns me on seeing him in the ring. His style is on point, he is gorgeous and his body is perfectly toned with a ton of tattoos. Confidence exudes from Nate which amplifies how hot it makes him. That's probably why so many girls want him!

I get home and remember I need to call Kale. I go to his contact on my phone and he answers after a few rings. "Hey Kale. Sorry, I just got off shift. I know you want to meet in person to discuss some stuff. How is Sunday for you?"

"Hey Halston. Sunday is good. I wish it could be sooner but I imagine you are busy."

I lie down on my couch. "Ya, I'm sorry. I need to go to the gym and have a pretty busy schedule. Just let me know what time and where on Sunday and I will be there."

"Will do. That ass hat is actually letting you come see me?"

I sigh. "Not exactly. He doesn't really know. He thinks I'm meeting with Beck." I feel discreditable hearing these words come out of my mouth.

He hesitates for a moment before continuing. "I will make sure we meet somewhere that he doesn't know about. You remember the place where I first told you I loved you? Meet me there at ten in the morning on Sunday."

I know exactly where he is talking about. "Sounds great. Thank you for everything."

"No problem, but I need you to do something only if you can do it without being noticed," he says.

"What's that?"

"See if you can get the unlabeled bottle in his cabinet or even just a sample of it. I have my theories but there is no way of really knowing without testing it. Again, only if you can do it safely Halston." His voice sounds worrisome.

"I will see what I can do between now and Sunday Kale," I say in hopes the bottle is still there and I can take some of it without Nate realizing. I feel uneasy with knots in my stomach by how dishonest I am being with Nate. I am opening myself to the possibility that Nate is doing something terrible to me and I don't like that feeling. But again, what do I really know about Nate and his past? I just know that something is wrong with me and this seems to be the right step in figuring out some unanswered questions. Hopefully everything turns out fine and I am getting my panties in a bunch over nothing!

"Take care, Halston."

"Bye." I end the call and lie on my couch for a few more minutes thinking of the first time Kale said he loved me and how much it meant. Crazy to think we will be back at that same place on Sunday. Only this time, it won't be such endearing words coming out of Kale's mouth.
