"Everything okay JoJo?" Lauren asked as she returned from the bathroom to see him standing at the window, staring out at the street.
He nodded, but didn't move or turn around, so she went up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind. He finally broke his stare, twisting his head round to smile at her.
Even without him having to say anything, Lauren could tell he was somehow hoping for snow, despite it never having snowed in Los Angeles in all his years of life.
"We'll have to go to Michigan for Christmas one year," she murmured, looking out of the window at all the Christmas lights.
Joey turned in her arms to face her, wrapping his own arms around her waist.
"You're sure you're not gonna miss home this year?" he asked, nervous at her bringing up the place where she'd grown up, and where she'd spent Christmas every year thus far.
She smiled up at him, the reflection of their Christmas tree lights dancing in her eyes. "This is home," she said softly, squeezing his hand as she gestured around at their apartment. "And I don't care where I am as long as I'm with you."
Joey could feel himself getting choked up so he quickly leaned down to kiss her, taking comfort in the familiarity of her lips and her body pressed closed to him.
"Did you mean it about going to Michigan one year?" he asked her as he pulled away.
"You really want snow that bad, huh?" she said with a smirk.
"Snow is like, the best part of Christmas," he said, to which Lauren wrinkled her nose, shaking her head.
"I'm sure my parents would love to have you," she said seriously.
He smiled, thinking about how that was a good job seeing as he'd be their son-in-law one day. Lauren tilted her head at him, and he realised he'd been staring.
"What?" she asked.
"Nothing," he said, cupping her face in his hand before he kissed her again, completely forgetting about the lack of snow.
A/N I really did finish all these weeks ago, I'm just that good at predicting the future because it looks like they followed through with that suggestion 🤷🏻♀️
