Joey smiled widely when Lauren walked out of their bedroom as they prepared to go to the New Year's Eve party.
"Ready to go?" he asked her, wrapping an arm around her waist and pressing a kiss to her temple.
"You're not gonna tell me how good I look first?" she asked him with a smirk.
He looked down at her sincerely. "You always look good, Lo." It didn't matter if she was dressed up for a night out or lounging around in sweatpants without a trace of makeup on, she was always beautiful to him.
She rolled her eyes at him, unplugging her phone and putting it in her bag before taking his hand as they went out the door.
They were separated briefly when they arrived as they were caught up in different conversations (and, of course, congratulations on their engagement), but they soon made their way back to each other, keeping close to each other's sides all night.
Lauren took hold of both Joey's hands as the countdown started, smiling up at him and knowing that no matter how much of a shitshow the next year was, she had him by her side through it all.
"Happy new year!" people cheered.
Joey met Lauren in a kiss, his arms hugging her close to him.
"Happy new year JoJo," she murmured against his lips.
Eventually they realised that they should probably wish a happy new year to their friends too, so they let go of each other, but kept holding hands as they made their way around the room together.
An hour later, most people were still partying, but Joey was sat with Lauren in the corner. He had his arms around her as she slept on his shoulder, and there was nowhere in the world he would have rather been.
"Happy new year Lo," he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
A/N Gotta be honest, I'm very relieved that's over!! It was a lot of fun though. And I did come up with an idea for a new fic in the middle of writing these, my multichapter and the prompts, so I can hopefully get on to writing more of that!
