Part 26 - The End

B E T T Y

Today we are leaving Paris. I have to admit I have truly fallen in love with this wondrous city.

I'm not entirely ready to step back into reality. We've had such a great time here just being alone and growing closer together.

I've discovered a new lust for life and it's a sensation I never want to lose feeling of.  Everything in my life is brighter and more exciting, because of Veronica. That girl could illuminate even the darkest night.

"You ready?" She asks me as she grabs hold of her luggage.

"Honestly, no. I wish I could stay here with you forever."

Veronica frowns before saying "It doesn't matter where we are. As long as we're together."

She was right, although I'm sad to be leaving Paris, the only thing I could ever ask for in life is to have her. Everything will be okay, as long as I have Veronica Lodge on my team.

We make our way to the airport and board the plane. We sit hand in hand enduring the long flight. Drifting to sleep occasionally. A few hours later we get off of the plane.

I have a feeling that everything is going to change.

The next day at school -

I grab some books out of my locker and roughly shove them into my bag, and turn around to see a familiar face.

"Jug?" I say smiling.

He chuckles and gives me a warm hug.

"I-I thought you hated me?" I asked.

"Please who could hate Betty Cooper?" He smirks.

"Fair enough. What're you doing here?"

"I came to ask you if you'd like to meet for coffee?" He said. I was surprised. Last time we spoke, we ended our relationship. He was heartbroken, and to be honest I was too.

"I'd love to." I respond.

"Great let's go."

So we walked to our spot around the corner and sat down in a booth.

"So how have you been?" I asked cautiously.

"Not great."

"Jug I-"

"I'm still in love with you Betty." He interrupts.

I should have known this was coming, why else would he have wanted to have coffee with his ex.

"Jughead..."

He leans in and kisses me. It caught me off guard but I immediately pulled away.

"What the hell?!" I exclaimed leaving the the coffee shop. I walk out the door to see none other than a very angry looking Veronica. She saw Jughead kiss me.

"V, I-" I said trying to explain that this clearly was not what It looked like.

"Just save it Betty. God I can't believe I eat so stupid to think you loved me more than him."

"It's not what you think." I said with tears forming in my eyes.

"We're done, Betty."

"Veronica, please." I cried, but it did not work. I watched her as she walked away.

I thought she'd never leave, she said we'd always be together. She didn't even let me explain.

I understand how much seeing that must have hurt her but she could've at least let me explain.

I guess that's it, we're over. Just like that.

3 years later -

They say lovers always find their way back to each other, and there is definitely some truth to that.

Here I am three years later, sitting on the edge of sweet water river with the beautiful love of my life. A few weeks after we broke up, she asked to meet with me and wanted to hear an explanation. I told her everything and she believed me. She apologized for jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst and I forgave her.

I knew in my heart that wasn't the end our relationship. We were made for each other, we bring out the best in each other.

Jughead tried to get back in touch with me again and I told him if he came near me one more time I'd get a restraining order. Seemed to work because I haven't seen him in three years.

I watched as Veronica stared in awe of the rivers beauty, as I stared in awe of her beauty.

She turned to me and said  "You're my everything. I simply could not live without you. I love you with my whole heart."

Then she got on one knee and pulled out a ring.

"Will you marry me Betty Cooper?"

Water started to creep up on the surface of my eyes. "Yes, yes of course!" I practically screamed.

Our lips met and it felt like the first time again.

I can not wait to see what the future holds for us. Veronica Lodge is my best friend, my lover, and my whole world.

I can't wait to spend forever with her.
