I wore a pair of jeans, an undershirt with a long-sleeved shirt over it and one of Ace's hoodies covering everything since mine were in the wash. I pushed the sleeves up and stepped to the door, listening for a second before opening it and stepping out, looking both ways and confirming that the hallway was empty. It was dimly lit, the few lights that were actually on were dimmed down, creating an eerie vibe which didn't help my nerves.

"Alright, lets move." I said quietly and before I knew it, we were off.

We made our way down the hallway, twisting around corridors, stopping to make sure there weren't any guards first. We eventually made it to the stairwell doors and I pulled the key card out of my front pocket.

I lifted it to the sensor at the top of the pad and it beeped. I quickly pocketed it as Ace reached forwards and put in the pin. We all held our breath as he typed it in. It beeped two more times and I heard the door shift, unlocking and making me let out a breath of relief.

Ace pulled it open and we all made it through. I glanced back as he quietly shut the door and stepped into the Cement stairwell.

The 6 of us quickly ran down the stairs and stopped at the bottom, Henry holding onto Camilla's arm. We listened for a second before pulling open the heavy door.

"You said you remember the way out, right?" I asked Ace and he nodded, stepping to the front next to me and starting to twist around the hallways.

It was if this place was designed to be confusing. All the hallways were the exact same, the only thing different about them were the different numbers beside the hundreds of doors.

We finally made it to the end of the hallway, to a set of metal double doors. We used the keycard and pin again and it unlocked. When we pushed open the doors and stepped through, the door slipped out of Logan's hand, creating a loud noise that made us all spin around to him.

He looked like a deer in the headlights as we all froze.

"You twat." Callie whisper hissed but Ace put his finger up to his lips as we heard a noise coming from down another hallway to our right. I looked over right as two guards turned the corner and spotted us.

I stepped back, knocking into Ace's chest as the two guards took off towards us. Everything happened in slow motion as I was pushed behind Ace. He stepped forward, sending his fist into the first guards face, sending him to the ground. My eyes flicked to the second guard as he pushed the button on his radio and started to speak into it.

Camilla came up from beside me and jumped forward, ripping the radio from his hand and shoving him backwards but it was too late. Different voices erupted from the radio as it fell to the ground and I knew we were in trouble. I looked to Ace with wide eyes and he said one word.

"Run."

We all took off after Ace, Camilla quickly grabbing Henrys hand and putting it on her elbow, him stumbling behind her.

A pair of guards ran out of a room behind us and started to chase after us.

We ran out into a large open room, windows lining the front, surrounding a tall door that led outside.

I jumped forward, swiping the keypad across the sensor and Ace's hand quickly replaced mine, typing in the code and ripping open the door once it unlocked.

I spun around as Camilla cried out, her arm being grabbed roughly by a guard that came out from a side door.

I drew my right arm back and sent it flying forward as hard as I could. My knuckles collided with the side of his face, making his head snap to the side. I grabbed Camilla's arm and yanked her forward out of his grip. I heard Henry's panicky voice behind me so I reached out, grabbing his hand and pulling them both out the door. I slammed it after they were out since everyone else was already ahead of us. Henrys hand quickly found Camilla as a harsh wind blew by.

"Go!" I yelled and in a split second, we were off. We ran forward into the thick trees, our feet crunching loudly on the layers of pine needles and dead plants.

Ace appeared at my side right as I heard the door bust open and voices yell after us, several sets of footsteps quickly approaching.

Logan lagged behind slightly, his leg brace making it difficult, a look of pain written on his face but Callie just grabbed his hand and pulled him forward.

"You can do it." She said as we darted around trees, the freezing air biting at my face and exposed arms. My breath came out in white puffs as we ran through the dark forest, our only light filtered through the trees.

"Keep going." Ace said as we started to slow, the voices and footsteps behind us fading slowly as we got deeper and deeper into the trees. Eventually, when we couldn't hear them any longer, we had to stop running. My lungs burned as I sucked in the cold air.

I leaned back onto a tree and tilted my head back, trying to catch my breath, and everyone else doing the same. I looked upwards, seeing the pine trees blow in the wind, flashes of the grey sky showing through.

"We have to keep moving." Ace said and I nodded.

"Let's go." I said and just like that, we were quickly walking through the forest again.

We had no idea which direction we were walking in but it didn't matter. We just had to get away. We were already part way to freedom, all we had to do now is not let them catch us.
