Chapter 23- What Did You Do

~Cece's POV~

Did I hear that right? My name called over the loud speaker. I got up and everyone's eyes were on me. Everyone knew it had something to do with Hayes, but what they thought really happened I have no idea. I didn't even know, let alone them. I walked out the door and headed down the hallway. I open the door to the office and step in. A lady looked up and smiled.

"You must be Miss Cece Ryder?" She asked me.

"Yes" I said as I nodded my head.

"Ok well you can sit down" she said pointing at the chairs, "and don't worry your not in trouble."

That took a lot of weight off my shoulders. Wait, where's Hayes and what did he do? The principals door opens and out walks Hayes. As soon as Hayes sees me he gives me an I'm sorry look and sits down across the room from me.

Mr. Lynch (the principal) walks out and looks around the office. He spots me and signals for me to come. I walk into his office and sit down.

"Miss Ryder, thank you for coming. Now I'm sure that you were told but your not in trouble. I just need you to tell me some things." I nod my head and he continues. "I'm just going to be asking a couple questions about some students here and then you will be free to leave."

"Ok" I reply nodding my head.

"What is your relation to Hayes Grier?"

"He's my boyfriend"

"Do you live with the Griers?"

"Yes"

"How come?"

"My parents abandoned me."

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know."

"It's ok, I'm over it."

"Ok well I'm still sorry. Anyways did you know of anything between Hayes and Matt Fisher?"

Crap. I should have know this was about Matt.

"Sorta, I mean they were best friends since they were little but they both kinda fell for me and now they hate each other."

"I see. What's your relation to Matt?"

"Ex Boyfriend"

"Oh, that explains some things. What about Maria Laker?"

"A friend I think"

"Ok thank you Miss Ryder. You may go back to class now."

"What happened?" I ask

"Well I'll inform you on that once I completely figure it out. I need to talk to Hayes again plus Matt and Maria. Thanks for coming"

"Your welcome" I say as I open the door and step out.

I look at Hayes but he just looks away. What could he have possibly done this time?

The entire day goes by with out seeing or hearing anything from or about Hayes. The only thing that I know is that he tweeted "I hate school" during 5th block, Now it's 7th block. I'm in Spanish and the phone rings. The teacher hangs up and walks over to me.

"Cecilia, Mr Lynch would like to speak with you."

I stand up and walk the familiar walk back to the office. This time Mr Lynch is waiting for me. We walk back to his office and sit down. Hayes is sitting in one chair and I sit in the other. I look at him but he just keeps looking at the ground.

"Now Cecilia, there was a little incident today, and since you were involved I thought I should let you know. Then I decided it would be better for Hayes to tell you what happened." He looks over at Hayes who can't seem to look at me. "Whenever your ready Hayes." He says.

"I-I-I beat up Matt"

"YOU WHAT?" I scream louder than intended.

"Matt texted me the other night and said that if I really wanted you to be my girlfriend that I had to fight him. I tried to refuse but he said that something bad would happen if I didn't. I went today after lunch and met him. He was with Maria. He tried to hit me but I blocked him and kept hitting him. He fell over after a while and Maria ran. I ran back to class but apparently Matt spilled."

"Hayes I can't believe you would do that!" I say sternly. "You could have just told me."

"The only problem is" Mr Lynch reveals "Maria is missing. Matt claims he doesn't know where she is but no one has seen her since the fight."

"Wait... Wheres Matt?" I ask anxiously.

"On his way to the hospital. He was really hurt" Mr Lynch says.

The bell rings and Hayes and I walk back to our lockers. We get to his locker and I turn to him.

"Don't think this talk is over" I say and walk away, not looking back.
