MILLIES POV:

It was 11:30am, and I had to go to work. Amelia was already at school, and Wesley was at day care. I had to council a sophomore who was getting badly bullied because she made songs that the other students didn't like, they thought she was attention seeking.

Her name was Billie Eilish, I hadn't met her before but her mother and the principal suggested she should see me. I sat at my desk, and waited for her to come in. I was a pretty chill councillor, I like to make my students feel welcome by offering them tea, coffee and stuff like that.

The door opened, revealing a girl with blue hair. Her clothes were all black, she had silver chains around her neck and wrists. She was pretty, though. I liked her style, it was very unique.

"Hey, you must be Billie." I smiled.

"Yeah, that's me." She said, sitting in the seat in front of my desk.

"Would you like anything to drink? Maybe a coffee, tea... Water?" I asked.

"No thank you, I'm good." She replied.

We sat down in silence for around five minutes whilst I typed up her name and things. Then I looked at her, she was looking down as she played with her fingers, occasionally biting on her fingernails.

"Okay, let's talk." I said, "remember that everything we speak about, I have to keep confidential. The things we say are only for our ears, and I'm not going to tell anybody."

"Okay." She took a deep breath, "well, I have always wanted to be a singer, but people keep knocking me down and telling me I'm not good enough, I just wanna be good enough, but I'm not. The only person who really believed in me was my best friend, Isobel but she passed away last year.. And now I just feel so a-alone."

"But you're not alone, Billie. People do believe in you, I believe in you. We all feel alone sometimes... When I was your age, I was alone, living with my own child which I got pregnant whilst I was drunk at a party. My parents kicked me out, and I felt like I had lost all hope." I said, "but you, I can tell you're a really likeable girl, and your music will be big one day. You have my word for it."

"Wait... Holy crap, you're Finn's girlfriend!" She said like realisation just hit, "h-holy shit, Calpurnia is one of my favourite bands."

"They are? Which one is your favourite song?" I asked.

"Definitely waves, that's a good one." She said, "it's not really their song originally, but I love when they cover my kind of woman by Mac Demarco."

I giggled a little, "you know, it took Finn two hours of stressing to try and get one of those notes right."

We sat for twenty minutes as she told me all about her family, and I told her all about mine in return. I got quite a lot about her, but obviously I wasn't going to tell anybody else. She was all happy and smiley now, and I was glad that I was that person who helped her smile.

"You remind me of Finn, you know." I said.

"How?" She asked.

"Because when Finn was in high school, he didn't believe in himself either, even though he was great. His best friend, Jack, also died and he went through a very tough time with that." I explained, "but look at him now, that will be you one day."
