Your hands shook.

You squeezed your eyes shut, unable to bring yourself to look at the item in your hand.

Quickly and without thinking you ripped open a nearby drawer, tossing is among the contents before slamming it shut, barely giving it a glance.

You couldn't right now.

You just couldn't.

You didn't know why, maybe it was the aspect of one little test possibly being life changing.

As if enough hadn't already occurred recently.

With a huff you forced yourself to back away, practically ripping your eyes away from the drawer.

'I'll check it soon...'

You thought.

'Just...I need some time.'

You stood with your arms crossed defensively, a mixture of pride and uncertainty churning in the pits of your mind.

"Y/n?"

You took a deep breath.

"So....do you know yet?"

You exhaled.

"N-no..."

"What? Is it not working?"

You glanced at Cletus nervously.

"No um...actually, it's in that drawer over there."

Cletus looked at you in confusion.

"Why is it in the drawer?"

You shook your head.

"I....Cletus?"

"Yes? What's wrong?"

"I...I just don't know."

"Don't know what?"

"I don't know what I want it to say."

You replied softly, still cradling your arms.

Cletus huffed.

"But you have to look eventually."

You said nothing.

"How about this...?"

You raised a brow.

"What?"

Cletus patted the drawer.

"I'll look at the test....So I'll know, but I won't tell you until your ready. So basically you don't have to look at the test because I will know."

You we're quiet for a moment before nodding in agreement.

"Okay."

When Cletus opened the drawer you held your breath for what felt like an eternity as he gently picked up the pregnancy test.

Silence.

He tossed it into the trash, his face completely blank giving away nothing.

He nodded.

"Now I know.....and I won't tell you until your ready."

You nodded back.

Cletus went to reach for a cup to get something to drink.

"Wait."

"What?"

"Erm...You should wash your hands first..."

"What? Why?"

"Cletus....do you know how a pregnancy test works?"

Cletus went quiet for a minute.

"No? Its not like I'll ever have to use one."

"Well uh.....you see, what happens is the test looks for heightened hormone levels in uh.....Urine."

It took Cletus a couple of moments to process this information.

"You mean.....you peed, on the stick thingy?"

You nodded slowly.

"Welp.....this is some information..."
