During the beginning of humans, wars were a norm. Many humans fought for land and food, things they needed to survive. But, it was the human that fought for selfish reasons that became a problem. For these people, their shadows fed off their selfishess, until they gained their own from. One they were solid, they became beings of absolute wrath, killing anything and anyone. Destruction is their only goal and be their goal 'til the end of time
Author's Note: Does this explain why the demons in the night myth were scared of the light? Because they're shadows? ....I think so.
