I woke to the sound of Theo's alarm going off loudly, and I groaned as I rolled over, trying to escape the incessant beeping. Theo finally woke and turned it off, rolling over to me. He got close behind me, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling my body closer to his. My eyes still hadn't opened, and I was enjoying the warmth Theo provided so much I almost fell back asleep.
"Goodmorning, my love," Theo said softly, his voice deep from sleep, as he kissed my cheek gently a few times.
I mumbled something incoherent in response, reaching up to rest a hand on his cheek as he moves his soft kisses down to my neck.
"Ah, so you are awake," Theo said, and I could feel him smiling against my skin as he continued to kiss me.
"No," I mumbled, burying my face in my pillow.
"Would you be more inclined to say yes if I make us some breakfast?"
"Maybe. But especially if you make some bacon."
"Alright, love. I'll be back. Just stay here, but try to wake up before I get back."
I almost whined when he got up and I felt the warmth from his body leave mine. I finally opened my eyes, watching him leave the room. I rolled over and grabbed my phone, taking it off the charger. I knew I needed to wake up before Theo comes back, so I decided to just scroll through my phone for a bit.
After a while, I somehow ended up on my mother's account, and I scrolled through her most recent posts until I found a picture she posted a few days ago. It was a picture of her and Tori, both smiling. The caption said, "Had a lovely day with my wonderful daughter. I'm so proud of her and her loyalty to this family and this pack."
I felt a stab of pain in my chest as I read it, knowing she was talking about me. I know that she thinks I betrayed her, I know that I am a disappointment to both her and my father.
Theo comes back into the room, carrying a tray of food.
"Alright, love. I made scrambled eggs and bacon and toast. I also brought your tea," he says as he comes over and sets the tray down on the bed.
"Thanks, Theo," I say quietly, not looking at him or the food.
"What's the matter, love? C'mon, talk to me."
"It's nothing... I'm just being dramatic. I shouldn't be making a big deal out of this. I already knew I was a disappointment to them, so I shouldn't have been surprised by this."
"Hey, what are you talking about baby? Disappointment? To who?"
I quietly showed him my phone, letting him read the post she made.
"Oh Alex, you shouldn't worry about something like this. I know it hurts you, but it's just a stupid post she made because she's hurt too. Besides, don't get upset over this now, we will be seeing them soon so you will have the chance to explain everything."
I sighed, "you're right. It just hurts because even after everything, they're still my parents. And being a disappointment is not exactly what I had hoped for."
"I know, love. Just, for now, try not to think about it. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Now, why don't we eat breakfast?"
"Sounds good."
After breakfast, Theo finally coaxed me out of bed to pack. He packed his own bag at the same time that he was helping me pack mine, trying to keep me calm the whole time. I understood what he was doing. He wanted to keep me calm and didn't want me to stress too much because he knows that this trip is already going to be hard for me. I appreciate what he's doing for me, it's actually helped a lot. I've only been a little shaky, and I've managed to keep all of my food down.
After we finished packing Theo told me that he had to have a meeting with the whole pack and tell them we were leaving, and he wanted me to go with him. He wanted me to stand with him in front of everyone. I was a bit nervous, but of course I said yes. Someday this will be my pack too, and not only will I be part of it but I'll be Luna. It's time I start stepping up and taking part in pack business.
The meeting was outside so that we had enough room to accommodate every member. Theo walked me up onto a platform that looked like it could be a stage, holding me close by him.
"Thank you all for coming," Theo began, keeping his hand on the small of my back, "as some of you may know I'm leaving for business tonight. There is a pack that we are allies with that needs our help. They are having rogue problems. So, I, along with a small number of our fighters, am going to go help them. I'm not exactly sure how long I will be gone, but we should be back fairly soon."
Theo paused, letting them take in that information, his hand stroking up and down my back reassuringly.
"And, in addition, as many of you now know, this is Alexandria. She is my mate, and therefore your future, and rightful, Luna. She will be going with me but still I expect you all to be respectful and kind to her. I expect her to be treated the way you would treat me. Now, as we will both be gone you will all be under Matthew's jurisdiction. Thank you everyone for coming and listening, and have a good rest of your night."
I smiled at Theo as he began walking us off the stage and looked over at me. I heard a couple pack members say some less than nice things about me, but chose to ignore it so as not to worry Theo. We went back inside the pack house, where we made a quick stop in the kitchen for something to drink. Theo was getting something to drink and I was leaning against the counter, waiting for him. Suddenly a familiar blonde struts into the room, and any trace of a smile leaves my face as she sets her sights on Theo. I clench my jaw tightly as she walks over to him. I wait to tell her off, hoping she just had a question relating to pack business or something like that. But I knew it was nothing like that the second she touched him. She wrapped her fingers around Theo's arm, trying to get his attention. He glanced over at her, frowning as he saw who it was.
"Hi, Theo. It's been a while since we last talked. You were busy then. I was thinking, since you're leaving for a big trip tonight, maybe I could-" Ashley started but was quickly interrupted.
"That's enough," I said as I moved over to them and pulled her hand from Theo's arm, "listen, honey. Fucking once does not dictate a relationship. If Theo needs anything, I think he'd much rather get it from me than you. Oh, and I'll even be with him on the trip, so it's not like he can't get it whenever he wants. Okay?"
"Excuse me?! Who do you think you are? Theo chose me as his Luna! Not your ugly ass!" She tried to reason.
Theo quickly burst into a fit of laughter, and she looked up at him, confused.
"What gave you that bright idea? The fact that I immediately started ignoring you after I woke up and realized I'd made a drunken mistake the next day?" Theo said sarcastically, still laughing a bit.
I moved in front of him as I saw her trying to get close and touch him again, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Run along now, sweetie. I think we're done here," I gave her a pointed look as Theo grabbed my hips.
"Bitch," she spat as she turned on her heel and stomped off.
I looked up at Theo as he laughed.
"Thanks, love. Maybe now she'll leave me alone."
"Maybe for a little while. Probably not forever. She'll lick her wounds and gain her courage back eventually."
"Did I mention that you're really hot when you're mad that another girl is touching me?"
"Shut up. Let's go upstairs."
"Fine. C'mon, love."
We walked up to his office, where he double checked that everything was in order. After that we went up to his room, having what will probably be our last quiet dinner by ourselves for a while.
"So, we have what, a two and a half hour drive to the airport, a four hour flight, and then a two hour drive to their pack?" I said, dreading all this travel.
"Sounds about right. Listen, I know it's gonna suck, but hey, at least we don't have to go through security or anything. We drive right up to the plane."
"Right."
"How are you feeling, love? We're leaving in about thirty minutes."
"I'm okay right now. Just wanna get all this travel over with."
"I understand. Me too."
"You'll sit next to me on the plane?"
"Of course, love."
"And let me fall asleep on you?"
"Yes."
"Good. 'Cause I'm tired already."
"I can tell," Theo chuckled, pulling me across the couch to be closer to him.
I leaned against him, my head falling to the crook of his neck. I nuzzled into his neck, kissing his neck a few times. I sat up a bit, moving closer as I switched sides. I kissed around the spot I'd get to mark him one day, and almost whined at how badly I wanted to see my mark on his skin. I sucked on his skin a bit in that spot. Theo quickly grabbed my hips, squeezing. I felt his breath catch in his throat and his heart race a little.
"Alex, please don't do this to me right before we have to leave."
I pulled away, nipping at the skin once more before leaving it alone.
"Sorry, Theo. I just can't help it, I want so badly to see my mark on your skin," I said quietly, tracing my finger over that spot.
He shivered slightly, grabbing my hand.
"Believe me, I understand the feeling. You know, love, if it's what you want, then we can..."
"I do, Theo, I really want that, but you know what will happen if you mark me."
"Well not if we killed two birds with one stone..."
"Theo, we have maybe 15 minutes until we have to leave. Would you like for us to be rushed, or even better, do it on the plane with your pack members there?"
Theo growled, probably at the thought of his men seeing me naked.
"That's what I thought. The timing is bad, Theo."
"I know, love. It's just so hard to consider all that when I want you so badly."
"Listen, Theo. If you are having a hard time right now, I can help you with that, so that you don't have an uncomfortable drive and plane ride."
I watched as he bit his lip, and i knew he was picturing it.
"No, love. I'll be okay."
"You're sure?"
"Yes. I'm afraid if you do that it'll just be even worse afterwards."
"Yes, well, I understand."
Theo sighs, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me back to lay against his chest. We sit there quietly for the next fifteen minutes, both of us tired and thinking of what was to come with this trip.
