I was chewing on my lip nervously with my eyes closed as Theo had instructed me to do at the last turn we took. I occasionally squeezed his hand subconsciously, trying to stop mine from shaking so badly.
"Calm down love, we're basically there. It's gonna be fine, I'm pretty sure you'll have fun. And if not then I promise I will make it up to you. Okay?" Theo said as I squeezed his hand again.
"Can you just tell me what we're doing already? I thought we were just getting lunch." I responded, my leg bouncing up and down.
"What would be the fun in that? And we are going to lunch, but we're doing something after lunch too."
I just sighed, surprises make me anxious.
"What's the matter love?" He asked as I felt him pull my hand up to his lips.
He pressed several soft kisses to the back of my hand as I debated what to say.
"It's nothing.." I finally settled for, not wanting to upset him.
"Please tell me."
"No really, it's not a big deal, I-"
"Alexandria, sweetheart, what is it? You can tell me."
"It's just...surprises make me...nervous, okay? It's not a big deal though, I'll be fine."
"Oh, Alex, sweetheart I'm sorry I didn't know.."
I turned towards him, grinning as I couldn't help but open my eyes.
"What?" He asked, looking at me like I was crazy.
"That's the first time you've called me Alex." I said, unable to wipe the stupid grin off my face.
"You prefer Alex?"
"Yeah, Alexandria all the time just seems too formal. But only people I like get to call me that."
"Oh so you like me?"
I don't think I've ever seen someone go from confused to smirking that fast.
"I didn't necessarily say that."
"Mhm whatever. You ready to go in and eat?"
I hadn't even realized we'd been sitting in the parking lot.
"Oh, yeah. Where are we?"
"This is a small restaurant, that I used to come to all the time before I became alpha. I came here to escape my life, to get away from everything that was going on. It was also just really nice to have a place nobody knew about. Plus, the food is amazing."
"I bet you bring all the girls here."
"No, just you. You're the only one important enough for me to bring here. And, just so you can calm down a bit and relax for lunch, I was planning on taking you to play laser tag after we eat. If you want."
"Laser tag?! Oh my god yes! I love laser tag but I haven't been in forever!"
"Well I'm glad I picked it then. C'mon, let's go eat."
•••
"Oh my god, that food was amazing! I can't believe that restaurant isn't super popular. It's so good." I raved, walking hand in hand with Theo to the car.
"I'm glad you liked it," Theo chuckled, "we'll have to come back together."
"For sure."
"You ready to go play laser tag?"
"Always."
He laughed and I couldn't help but join him as I reached for the passenger side door. Theo stopped me, grabbing the door handle before I could and opening the door for me. He gave me one of his dazzling smiles as I got in, and I couldn't stop the small smile that made itself evident on my lips. I forced myself to hide my smile as Theo walked around and got in on his side, starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot. I focused my attention on the landscape that passed through my window as we drove. I was so focused, that I almost jumped when Theo's hand landed on my thigh. I looked over at him as his thumb rubbed circles into my bare skin. I shivered, looking away from him. His hand inched further up, and I looked over at him in shock. His face was blank though, his eyes straight ahead on the road. His hand squeezed my thigh, and my whole body tensed as I realized his intent. My hand flew down to grip his wrist as he moved his hand up again.
"Theo. What do you think you are doing?" I asked.
"Driving. What do you think I'm doing?" He responded nonchalantly, not even looking at me.
"Theo!" I exclaimed as he squeezed my thigh hard, not hard enough to hurt me but just hard enough to make me want to clench my thighs together.
"Yes, love?"
"Theo, you need to stop."
"What do you want me to do, pull the car over?"
"No, I want you to stop teasing me," I squeaked as he moved his hand all the way up, still squeezing.
"I'm not doing anything, love. It's your imagination."
"Theo I swear on my life if you do not stop-"
"We're here!"
He very suddenly parked the car and turned it off, getting out. I half expected him to come open my door like he usually does, but ended up doing it myself as he walked towards the entrance. I half ran to catch up with him, and by the time I caught up he was walking through the door, I tried to catch the door so I could walk in behind him, but he pulled it shut behind him and all but slammed it in my face.
"Theo!" I hissed as I caught his wrist and stopped him.
"Oh, I'm sorry, was that rude?" He asked as he turned to me.
"Why are you acting like this?"
"You're cute when you're angry and confused, you know that?"
The smirk on his face made me want to slap him.
"Whatever," I rolled my eyes, "just hurry up and get our stuff. I want to kick your ass at laser tag already."
"You? Kick my ass? Please."
"Fine. But don't come crying to me when you lose and I rub it in your face."
"As if you could ever beat me."
"Bet."
"Bet."
"You're on."
We paid to play and got our stuff, glaring at each other the whole time. I quickly put on the gear, gasping as my shirt almost came down. I growled as Theo chuckled and smirked at me.
"While you're busy laughing, keep in mind that not only was I among the best fighters in my old pack, but I was also the best with guns," I growled, aiming the plastic gun right as his heart.
His smirk dropped, his eyebrows raising.
"You were one of the best fighters in your pack?" He asked.
"Yes, did we not talk about this?"
"No, you barely told me anything of your old pack."
"Hm. Oh well, gotta run!" I said and ran into the room as the door opened.
I ran and dodged through the maze of barriers and things to hide behind, trying to find a place that seemed good enough for me to be. I made sure to duck through places and take an odd path so that Theo couldn't follow me.
We were the only ones in the room, so my only mission was to take down Theo.
"C'mon Alex, don't hide. That's cowardly," Theo called out.
"I'm not hiding, and it's not cowardly. I'm planning. Being smart," I called back, even though I knew I shouldn't respond and give away my location.
I quickly moved, going somewhere completely different so he couldn't find me.
This continued for about 20 minutes. And then I had it.
I had him in my sights. He didn't see me, but I saw him.
"Alex, this has gone on too long. Come out and fight me," he exclaimed.
"Theo, this is kill or be killed. And I plan to kill," I called out as I shot him.
The loud beeping and flashing of lights that came from his suit signaled my triumph, and I grinned as I sauntered out of the shadows with my hand on my hip and my head held high.
"I guess I could beat you after all," I smirked, ruffling his hair as I passed him, expecting to walk out triumphant.
He had different plans though.
I felt Theo catch my wrist and as I stopped walking to pull away from him, he flipped me onto my back on the ground. I quickly used all of my force to flip us over, so he was on his back and I pinned his legs and hands down.
"I'm not weak, you know," I whispered to him.
"I know," he breathed, suddenly flipping us back over, "but neither am I."
"I never doubted that. But what are you doing? Shouldn't we leave?"
"Not yet."
I didn't have time to speak as he pinned my arms above my head, his head dipping down to my neck. My lips parted as I barely managed to keep myself silent during his current attack on my neck. Every time he decides to tease me like this it gets harder and harder to resist him, to resist the mate bond.
"Theo," I gasped out, panting as I tried to pull my hands free so I could reach him.
"Shh, as much as I love hearing my name fall from your pretty little mouth, you're not being quiet enough love. You don't want to get us caught, do you?" He hushed me as he pulled back to look at me, his mouth hovering centimeters away from mine.
I bit my lip in response, my heart pounding.
"Good girl. If you're good, we'll go out to the car so you can be as loud as you want, but that's if and only if you can be nice and quiet for me."
I nodded, taking a shuddering breath as he moved back down. He started back on my neck, before tugging at the suit and moving down my chest. I dug my nails into my palms, biting my lip hard.
Finally Theo pulled back, looking at me. I stared up at him with wide eyes.
"Alright love, let's go," he announced, getting up and helping me up too.
I nodded, letting him hold my hand as he pulled me towards the exit. He took his suit off in the area we put them on, hanging it back on the hook he got it from. I did the same with mine, and then we were heading to the car and I wasn't sure if I was excited to continue or nervous that I might not be able to stop myself.
When we reached the car he pushed me against it, his hands holding my hips. He looked at me, his eyes glancing down at my lips before meeting my eyes again. I wrapped my arms around his neck, breathing heavily as I did the same as him. He moved closer, his lips almost touching mine.
"Oh, just kiss me already," I breathed and pulled his lips to mine.
As our lips finally met for the first time sparks shot through my entire body. My wolf was going crazy, begging me to let us mate with him. My brain spun, but not in a bad way. All I could think was that I hoped this moment never ended. And it practically didn't. He moved me away from the car slightly, opening the door to the backseat. He lifted me up into the seat, my legs hanging out the door. He stood between my legs, pulling me close to him. His hands squeezed at my hips, and I tugged at his hair in the back, earning a quiet groan from him.
"Theo," I couldn't help but moan his name as he kissed my neck, "remember how we talked about how we can't do certain things right now..."
"I know, we talked about that already, we won't go that far, but I can't resist you right now," he mumbled.
"Maybe you should get in and close the door."
He pulled away momentarily to look at me, looking behind him before agreeing. He slid me back on the seat, climbing in and pulling the door shut behind him. He sat on the seat and before he had the chance to decide what to do next I climbed into his lap. I easily straddled him, my lips finding his neck and my hands drifting down his chest. His hands were quick to grab my hips, a groan escaping his lips. I couldn't help it as my hips just so happened to grind against his. A small moan fell from my lips as I did so again, my hands gripping his shirt.
"Those pretty little noises you make are music to my ears, love," Theo groaned in my ear, his voice low and rough, "but we might need to stop soon so that I can control myself."
"You're probably right, and it's not just you who will need to control themselves... what time is it?" I responded, pulling away from him slightly.
"Um," he paused to pull his phone out of his pocket to check, "just about 5, why?"
"Shit, I have to be at work at 6 and I need to change and get ready. Can you take me back to my apartment and just stay to take me to work since my car is there? If you don't mind..."
"Of course I will, I don't mind at all love. C'mon let's get in the front so we can go."
•••
Theo pulled into the parking spot next to the one my car was in as we arrived at the bar.
"Thank you so much, for everything today and for bringing me to work. I probably would've been late if it weren't for you," I said with a laugh.
"It's no problem, love. I'm happy as long as I'm getting to spend time with you," he responded, grabbing my hand.
"Would you want to...walk me in? I just need to clock in and set my stuff down and then I have a few minutes before I actually need to get to work..."
"I'd love to. I'd stay for a drink, but I need to get back and check on the pack. Make sure I get some things done, so I can maybe see you tomorrow?"
"Already planning a second date, I see."
"Maybe. Before we go in, put your number in my phone so I can text you?"
"Yeah, hand it to me."
He gave me his phone and I put my number in, handing it back to him and getting out of the car. He came up next to me as I walked towards the door, grabbing my hand.
"I would've gotten your door for you, if you'd waited."
"That's okay. I mean if you're really that concerned you can open the door to the bar."
"I plan to. But you," he stopped us walking and pulled me into him with his arms around my waist, "better not flirt with any guys tonight. Understand?"
"I wouldn't dream of it. But you can't get mad at me if they hit on me. It happens, and I can't do anything about it. Usually I half play along just to get good tips, but I guess I'll stop that..."
"Yes you will stop that. You don't need to flirt with anyone else."
"Alright calm down Alpha. Wouldn't want to cause a scene in the parking lot."
He growled playfully, squeezing my waist and pecking my lips. I grinned, praying that I wasn't blushing as we walked into the bar still holding hands. I walked over to the side of the bar where the opening was, telling Theo to wait there while I clocked in and put my stuff up.
As I went into the back room my friend who worked there, who I'd danced with the night before, came in as well.
"Is that the guy who followed you out of the bar last night? Because, a- he was totally drooling over you like a lovesick puppy when you guys walked in, and b- he is totally hot," Brie said, grinning at me.
My cheeks grew hot, and I knew I had to be bright red.
"Maybe. I met him a couple weeks ago," I covered, so it didn't seem odd that we were so close after one night since she's human, "and he decided to visit me at work last night."
"Oooh. Details. What's his name, is he good in bed? Tell me everything!"
"Oh my gosh, Brie. His name is Theo, and I wouldn't know."
"You guys haven't...?"
"No! Not yet. And keep your voice down."
"Why not? I mean I know you said it's only been a couple weeks, but still. Usually you'd have already been on that."
"Brie!"
"Okay okay I'm done. Go back out there and talk to him before we have to really get to work. Go!" Brie exclaimed as she pushed me out of the back room.
I laughed and gave her a playful glare before turning around and walking towards him.
"Alright, I'm back," I said as I lead him over away from the bar a little, so that we could have a somewhat private conversation, "and we've got about 5, maybe 10 minutes if my boss doesn't come in early."
"Mm okay. I don't know what we should do with that time. We could either talk, or..." he trailed off as he put his hands on my hips and pulled me closer.
"Or this?" I questioned with a smirk as I put my arms around his neck and kissed him.
"Exactly that," he said when we pulled apart.
"Well, as much as I know you have that whole, getting to know me thing in your head, I think we should save the talking for later."
"I agree."
He leaned down and kissed me again, his lips molding perfectly against mine. I let him pull me closer, so that there was little to no space between us. My fingers pushed slightly into his hair, tugging lightly.
Suddenly we were interrupted by someone yelling.
"Okay Alex I see you! Get it girl!" I heard Brie yell loudly.
We parted, and I couldn't help but laugh as I turned to look at her. I let my hands rest on his shoulders as I glared at her halfheartedly.
"Brie! Shame on you. Let the girl have her fun," this other girl, Monty, who wasn't on my shift that much called as she smacked Brie in the arm with the towel she'd been holding.
"Well, there goes that," I said, laughing as I turned back to Theo.
"Well, looks like we're back to talking, huh?"
"Just for the time being. Don't worry, I'll make sure you get a real good goodbye kiss before you go."
•••
Theo left and my shift seemed to go by quickly, or maybe I just wasn't hating my life at the moment. Brie, Monty and I made it fun, the two of them trying to get me to tell them stuff about Theo all the while. When my shift finally finished I clocked out grabbed my things and headed out to my car. Once I was in the car I checked my phone, noticing I had a text from an unknown number.
Unknown number: Hey love. It's Theo. Text me when you get off work ok? Can't wait to see you again tomorrow.
I grinned upon reading it, quickly saving the number under his name before responding.
Me: Hey, I just got off work.
Theo: Did you keep to your promise tonight?
Me: That was fast. Did you miss me? And yes, I did. You have nothing to worry about.
Theo: Yes, of course I missed you. After everything hat happened today how could I not? Also, good. You'd be in trouble if not.
Me: Aw, the big bad alpha has a heart.
Theo: Only for you, love. Only for you.
I practically swooned at that.
Me: Well I gotta drive home, you can either call me to continue this conversation or I can text you when I get home.
Theo: I'll let you drive home. Be safe, love. Text me when you get there.
With a smile on my face and a weird happy feeling in my heart, I put my phone down and drove home.
Entering my apartment I set my purse down on the table by the door with a slight thud. I went to my room, sitting on my bed and texting Theo.
Me: Home.
I set my phone down next to me while I took my shoes off and went to put them in the closet and change out of my work clothes and take off my bra and put on a nice big comfortable t-shirt to wear to bed. When I came back to my phone, there was a text.
Theo: Glad you made it home safe. Call me when you get a chance? I want to hear your voice.
Me: Yeah, just let me do some things and then I'll call you.
I ran to the bathroom and hurried through my nightly routine, eager to call Theo. Finally my face was clean my teeth were brushed. I went back to my room and grabbed my phone, pressing call on his contact as I headed to the kitchen. I put him on speaker and then set my phone down on the counter as it rang. I was reaching for my favorite mug when he picked up.
"Hey, love," His voice came through the speaker.
"Hey," I answered, grabbing the mug and placing it on the counter.
"How was work?"
"Pretty good, I was in a good mood to start with so it didn't suck. And Brie, Monty and I had a little fun throughout our shift so."
"I hope there weren't any guys involved in that fun."
"There weren't. Promise."
"Good."
"Mhm, how's the pack? Did you do boring paperwork all night?"
"The pack's good, and no, I did some paperwork and then I had a meeting."
"So, no you didn't just do paperwork, but yes, it was still boring?" I joked.
"Fine. Mostly boring, yes."
"Mhm," I mumbled, not paying much attention as I tried to make my tea.
"You sound distracted, what are you doing, love?"
"Making tea and making a mess of my counter. I seem extra clumsy tonight for some reason."
"Do I need to come over so I can help you?" He teased.
"No, I'm not a child."
"Oh I know, love. You showed me that today."
My eyes went wide and my face got hot and the box in my hand clattered to the floor.
"I blame you for making me drop my box on the floor."
"Aw, did I embarrass you kitten?"
"No. You simply shocked me."
"Well I apologize."
"Not sincerely."
"Well no. But only because I imagine that you're currently blushing and you're cute when you blush so the only thing I'm currently truly sorry for is that I'm not there to see it."
"Theo, stop it."
"Stop what? All I did was compliment you, love."
"You're making me turn redder than a tomato and I feel like a naive schoolgirl with a silly crush."
"Alex, am I gonna have to come show you that you're not a naive schoolgirl, and that it isn't a silly crush?"
I was frozen for a moment as I thought of what that might entail.
"No," I squeaked.
"Are you sure? Because I know exactly how to show you..."
"No, that's okay."
"Alright, love. Whatever you say."
"Can we please talk about something else?" I asked as my tea was finally done and I picked up my phone in one hand and my mug in the other.
I managed to make it to my room without any major disasters happening as he spoke.
"Well, how about we talk about what you might like to do tomorrow?"
I sat down on my bed before replying, "I'm not sure, but I don't have to work tomorrow so you can have me for the whole day, unless you're busy."
"I'm not, and if I was I'd clear my entire schedule for you, love."
"Would you? Really?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"Damn it Theo, you're too good for me. Really."
"Never, love. If anything I do not deserve someone as great as you."
"Oh stop."
•••
By the time we finished our conversation it was late, I'd finished my tea, and I was yawning like crazy. Unable to help myself, my head spun with thoughts of our future. As I lay in bed I felt restless and craved his touch, craved his arms around me. Usually I have problems sleeping anyway but now it's like I know that I can't sleep because he's not here. I almost debated calling him again or texting to see if he's up, but by the time I would've worked up the courage to actually do it it was 3 AM and I didn't want to wake him.
I hate that I'm so dependent on him all of a sudden. I don't want to need him. I don't want to need anybody. I'm supposed to be fine on my own, independent.
I need to stop falling for him so fast...
