Sunrise (After Breaking Dawn)

Chapter 7

"Jakey, shut up. Carlisle is trying to ask me a question."

"Have you felt any kicks?" Carlisle asks.

"Yes."

"Are they painful? In Bella's pregnancy, they were painful."

"No. They aren't painful. Well, not yet."

"Good."

Carlisle gently placed the stethoscope on Ness's stomach and listened.

"This is peculiar," he said softly. "Sky, listen," he said as he handed me the stethoscope.

I placed it on my ears and on Ness's stomach.

Boom! Boom!

Boom! Boom!

Then, the heart beat started to overlap itself.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

I stared at Carlisle.

"What is going on!?" Jacob screamed.

"I think you're having twins," Carlisle answered.

Ness's face lit up instantly, but Jacob's seemed to drop.

Carlisle kept listening.

"Yes, you are definitely having twins."

Since the ultrasounds didn't work, this was the only way we could check on the baby.

About every three hours, Carlisle would check on the twins' heart beats.

After we were done with Ness's first checkup, we went back to the living room and told the rest of the family the news. Everyone was overjoyed and estatic. Everyone, except Jacob.

Jacob was silent and put on a smile when Emmett and Jasper congratulated him personally.

"One last question," Carlisle said to Ness as he sat down in the chair next to the couch. "Are you craving blood?"

Jacob and Zac cringed at this thought, but my mouth watered. I hadn't hunted in weeks and was beginning to crave.

"Yes," Ness answered.

"The babies won't be craving animal blood."

"Is that safe? I mean for her. It might curve her appetite. She's never had human blood before," I ask.

"I will only give it to her if Ness believes that she can handle the temptation."

"I can do it," she said confidently.

"I'll go get it," Carlisle said.

He went into his office, which was downstairs in the basement, and brought back some blood he had downstairs in case Ness or me ever had a severe injury.

He brought it back and motioned for everyone to get out.

I decided to stay along with Bella, Edward, Rose, Esme, and Jacob with Zac standing next to me.

He poured the blood into a glass and Ness's senses went into over drive. Jacob held her back as Carlisle handed the cup to her.

My senses were strong because, like Ness, I go crazy at the smell of blood. But, I tried my hardest to stay back. I grabbed Zac's hand and started cutting off his circulation. He didn't seem to notice or mind.

She drank furiously. The blood was gone within seconds.

Her heart rate increased dramatically.

Bella turned to me and noticed that Zac looked pale.
