Chapter 16: Finally

"You did?" I asked.

He smiled and grabbed both my hands in his and whispered, "I love you. I don't have feelings for anyone else. If you need proof, your dad knows I imprinted on you."

"I don't need proof. I trust you."

"You do? Now that's a change of heart."

"Shut up. And, I'm sorry. Sorry for not believing you. Sorry that I denied your feelings for me."

"I will always forgive you," he said as he grabbed my face and kissed my head. He paused for a moment on my temple, and I think he smelled my hair.

He pull away, keeping his hands on my cheeks. I put my fingers on his chin and pulled his face closer to me. I kissed him, slowly and he kissed back, moving his lips up and down. He cocked his head to the left and I switched to the right and continued to kiss.

"AGHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Ness cried.

I grabbed Zac's hand and started running for the door.

"Wait," he said as he stopped and stood still.

"Wait, what?"

"Won't your parents wonder why I'm here. Won't they want to, I don't know, kill me?"

"I'll protect you," I said.

He followed me down the stairs into the living room where Jacob held Ness up from falling.

Emmett and Rosalie entered the room too.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Where did he come from?" Bash asked.

"Get out," Edward said with his fists clenched. His teeth did not move.

'Dad, he told me that he imprinted on me,' I thought.

"That doesn't mean anything."

'Yes, it does! I thought he kissed another girl because he didn't love me the way I love him. But, you know he imprinted on me. You know that he loves me. I love him too.'

"But, he hurt you."

"What's she thinking?" Bella asked.

He didn't answer. Instead, I thought, 'The slut who kissed him without his consent hurt me.'

He looked to Zac and his eyes squinted and his lips formed a grin. He looked like he was crying, but no tears came out.

"Get Ness to Carlisle's office," Edward said.

"What's going on?"

"The baby is coming," Ness said as she breathed heavily.

"Finally," said Emmett. "I thought the baby was about to pop out like a jack in the box.

I chuckled and helped support Ness on the opposite side of Jacob.

But, something arranged happened. Her body jerked forwards then back again, like she was about to flip over backwards. I heard a crack and everyone rushed to her aid.

"Several of your ribs are broken. Her back might be broken too. Lift her gently," Carlisle said calmly.

Ness was screaming out. I teared up, and Jacob began to weep because we hated seeing her in pain.

I had only seen Jacob cry twice before. Once, the day he proposed to Ness and the day he married her.

I thought I would enjoy the day he cried in pain and in sadness. But, I couldn't.

I realized the only thing we had in common was our love for Ness. And that would make us allies for the next few excruciating hours.
