The canoe by the lake made the perfect honeymoon activity for Levi and I. The weather here was perfect, so we used the first opportunity we had to use the boat. I have rode in boats plenty of times when I was younger, when I would go fishing with my dad. Levi, growing up in the underground and all, has never even step foot on a boat. And even though he knows I know how to row, he's insisting on doing it himself.
"So...do you know what you're doing?" I ask Levi, looking skeptically at the two oars he's holding in a very weird way. Ha, just like how he holds his teacups!
"It's easy," he says, grabbing both the oars tightly and starts pushing the water with them.
"Umm...Levi?" I question, as the canoe starts moving back towards the dock. "I think you're going backwards..."
"I meant to do that," he says, as he switches the direction he's moving the oars. He doesn't move the oars in the right motion though, and it makes us go ten times slower than we should be.
I try to hold in my laugh, as he struggles with the oars, looking very uncomfortable with the way he's holding them.
"Are you sure you don't want me to do this?" I ask with a chuckle, still trying to hold in a full out laugh.
"No, I'm doing just fine," he says, glaring at the oars, wondering why they're hardly doing anything.
I let a little laugh at him, as he looks up at me with a frustrated gaze.
"Oi, are you laughing at me?" He asks seriously.
"Oh, me? I would never!" I smile, looling up with a mischievous look on my face. "What wife laughs at their husband's failures? Surely not me!"
"Tch, just wait til we get back to land. You'll be in for it," he says.
"What do you mean?" I ask with a smirk. I watch him continuing to struggle with the oars, as I roll my eyes at him. "You should really just let me do it. We'll get to the middle of the lake much faster."
"What are you talking about? This is as fast as the boat will go!" He says, a bit of confusion in his voice.
"No," I point out. "This canoe can go way faster, you're just doing it wrong."
"How am I doing it wrong? All I'm doing is moving the oar around. The boats moving, isn't it?"
"Yeah, but you're moving them wrong," I say. "And we're barely moving a centimeter every minute. Come on, just let me do it."
"You want to do it?" He asks. "And what will you do if I let you row? Hmm?"
"What?" I question. "What I'll do is get us out in the middle faster! That's what you get for letting me row!"
"I don't want that," he says casually.
"What do you mean? The whole point of this is to get out into the middle!" I point out.
"No," he says. "The point is to sit in the boat and enjoy ourselves. The middle of the lake has nothing to do with this."
I cross my arms, huffing, "Yeah, well the view is much better in the middle. You're always supposed to go into the middle."
I hear him laugh at me, and I look up, my mouth gaping.
"And what is it you're laughing at, mister?" I question, trying to be serious but I can't help the smile that spreads across my face.
"Look, if you really want to row, then here," he chuckles, handing me the oars.
I smile brightly, taking them out of his hands, shouting, "Thank you!"
