The Day You Made Up

It had been a week since Levi and I had fought. We hadn't slept in the same room, talked, or even looked at each other. I wasn't even sure if we were together anymore.

I knew going into mine and Levi's room would run the risk of seeing him, so I sleep in the girls dorm and borrow some of my friends clothes. I slept in some girls bed who had been on vacation for the past week.

"I heard that girl is coming back today," Christa tells me in the mess hall, as we eat our dinner. "The girl who's bed you've been sleeping in. Will you go back to sleeping with Levi if she's back?"

I sigh, looking over across the mess hall to see Levi eating with his squad, quiet as usual. But since our fight started, I've noticed he's been extra quiet and extra hard on people. If you do hear him talk you'll only hear him yelling at someone and giving out harsh punishments. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about him.

"I don't know," I answer Christa. "I have no idea where I'd sleep if not in the dorm."

Christa lets out a small huff, "You guys really should make up soon. I don't know what the fight's about, but you guys can't avoid each other forever. You have to talk about it at some point."

I shutter at the thought of talking to Levi. I'm worried he'll just respond to me the same way he's been responding to everyone else lately. In a cruel and harsh way.

"I don't want to talk to him," I say.

"I'm not saying you have to," Christa says, a small smile on her face. "Just saying you should."

"Wow, Christa!" Ymir shouts, putting her arm roughly over Christa's shoulder. "You're so smart! That's what I look for in a marriage partner! Marry me after this?"

"Ymir," Christa giggles. "Seriously, you're always making that joke!"

I laugh a little for the first time in a week, "Christa, I don't think she's joking."

"Listen to (Y/N)," Ymir says. "She knows what she's talking about!"

"Oh, come on!" Christa laughs. "Seriously, Ymir, I'm trying to comfort (Y/N) right now!"

I smile at their shenanigans, wondering why they don't just tell us about their relationship already.

"You made her smile," Ymir says, looking at me. "I think you've comforted her enough! So pay attention to me now, Christa!"

I look away from them and see Levi gone from the mess hall, but the rest of his squad still there. I sigh, getting up from the table unnoticed and throwing my uneaten food away.

I decide to go to the girl's dorm to see if that girl came back. She'd probably be in the mess hall right now, if she is back, but it's worth a look.

I go to the girl's dorm, opening the door as it creeks against my touch. I peek my head in and see the room with no one in there. On the bed I've been sleeping on, I see an open suitcase, still full of clothes. So, the girl did come back today. I sigh, realizing I have to sleep in mine and Levi's room tonight.

I think about Christa's words for a second as I make my way down the hall. I don't know where I'm going, so I just keep walking.

It's probably time I did talk to Levi. One fight shouldn't be enough to tear us apart, right? I mean, we're bound to talk about this at some point and I'd rather do it before we're being forced to sleep in the same room together because of the fact that there's no where else to sleep.

All this thinking is making my head hurt, I feel my head, but instead of skin I just feel the bandages put there from the gash I got from the last expedition. I stop where I am for a second, looking up and surprisingly finding myself in front of Levi's office door. I sigh, thinking this must be some sort of sign that I should talk to him.
