Opposites Attract|An Ashton Irwin Fan Fiction|

Chapter 16.

(Jenna’s P.O.V)

            We sat on stage with the boys as they warmed up. One Direction sang “Little Black Dress,” “Midnight Memories,” and their cover of “Teenage Dirtbag”. Then 5SOS preformed “Gotta Get Out,” Try Hard,” and their cover of “I Miss You”. They all sounded amazing live. While they were singing the boys kept messing around to make everyone screw up. So, what should have taken about 20 minutes ended up taking 45 since they had to keep restarting. 

            There was still at least another hour or so until people started showing up, so we all sat on stage talking about how nervous and excited the boys were. Troye and I, of course vlogged with everyone. The boys loved to goof off in front of the camera.

            Before the fans started to show up, the boys suggested we take the rest of our pictures together. It was so fun to make up goofy poses with all the guys. Luke, Louis, Liam, and Zayn all pulled me into a hug for our pictures, Calum and I stuck out our tongues and held up peace signs, Harry pulled a funny face and put his arm around me while I laughed my head off at him, Niall had me jump on his back, while Michael jumped on my back. Then came Ashton. All the boys yelled at him to kiss me on the cheek and he turned as red as a fire truck. Instead of doing what the guys told him to, he awkwardly put his arms around me and smiled. All the boys booed at us. It. Was. So. Awkward.

            By the time we all finished taking pictures, the boy’s fans had already started showing up, and they were coming to meet the boys. Troye, Dave and I sat on the couch vlogging. Troye tweeted how excited he was for the concert, he got a bunch of replies saying that our fans were at the concert and wanted to meet us! We told the boys where we were going and started heading out to where we told our fans we’d meet them.

            I was about to walk out the door, when something pulled at my wrist. I spun around and saw Ashton standing over me looking shyly at the ground.

            “What’s up?” I said, slightly agitated.

            Ashton could’ve talked to me at any time tonight, why now, when I was about to leave?

            “Ju- just… be careful.” He stuttered. “And try to come back before we start, okay?”

I nodded and walked out to catch up with Troye and Dave. Why had Ashton done that? He had acted like a total jerk the entire night, and now he was trying to be sweet to me? He was so confusing! I would’ve thought about him longer, but the screaming from my subscribers took my attention away.

            After a little over an hour, Troye and I had said hi to and taken pictures with almost all our subscribers. Surprisingly a lot of our subscribers wanted to say hi to Dave too. Dave had been in so many of mine and Troye’s videos I wondered why I was so surprised.

            Lots of our subscribers got us gifts. I got four Taco Bell gift cards, a new rangers beanie, a ranger’s cup, and three bags of watermelon sourpatch. My followers knew me so well it was crazy. Even though it was totally unnecessary to buy me things, I really appreciated it. 

            When we got back to the guys everyone was rushing around and yelling, which only meant the boys were going on stage soon. We all gave the guys hugs and said good luck, then went to find our seats.

            The seats were literally amazing. I could reach my hand out and touch the stage if security wasn’t standing in front of me.

            We sat waiting for about 20 minutes, and then the announcers started talking to get everyone excited for the boys, they hardly need to, everyone was going nuts. Everyone around me started pulling out their phones to take pictures/videos of the concert. I didn’t want to spend a lot of the concert on my phone, but I definitely wanted to get some candids of the boys. I told myself that I could film the boys coming on stage and the first song for my vlog, but after that I’d put my camera for a few songs.

            When the boys came onstage the crowd went bezerk. I looked around and saw a bunch of sings that said things like; “Future Mrs. Hemmings” and “Michael, will you marry me?” and “We love Harry!”  It made me laugh how cute the 5SOS and 1D fans were.

            After a few of the more mellow songs, the boys pulled out the big guns and started playing “Alive.” Dave pulled me up onto his shoulders so I could get a better view and get some pictures of the boys. I got the most amazing picture of Ashton on the drums, and some good pictures of the rest of the guys.

            An hour into the concert I was already losing my voice and getting fairly sweaty, so I went to the bathroom while Dave and Troye went to buy food. Dave and Troye had been flirting the entire night! I felt a bit like a third-wheel, but they tried their hardest to make me feel less awkward.

            Back inside, the 5SOS boys played their cover of “I Miss You,” it was by far my favorite song from the entire night.  While they were playing my eyes caught Ashton’s and he gave me a big smile. It was a smile that made my heart melt. He could’ve been smiling at anyone in the crowd, or he could’ve just been happy in general, but somehow it felt like that smile was just for me.

            When the concert ended it was 12:15am. I looked through my camera and saw all the amazing, Instagram-worthy pictures of Dave, Troye, and me. By far my favorite was one Troye had snapped of me off-guard while I was dancing around. I liked it because I looked really carefree and genuinely happy. It had captured the perfect moment.
