Just Friends?

Chapter 4

After stopping by the bathroom briefly, I grab my bag and head towards the front doors, where my friends were waiting.

"Sorry I was using the bathroom."

"Its cool, let's go." Says Alex.

Kylie takes my arm and we walk, arms linked. I turn around to see that Sasha and Jay are walking behind us. Jay's arm around Sasha their lips collide in an ugly way every once and a while. "ugh!" I whispered to Kylie, who I also refer to as Ky.

"What?" She asks as if I'm referring to her.

After looking behind us she turns back "oh" she says acknowledging the obnoxious PDA happening behind us. "Why do you hate her so much?" She asks, hushed.

"It's because she's a bitch. Don't you see the way she addresses me?"

"I highly doubt that's the reason but whatever"

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask ignorantly.

"Never mind." she says as we continue to walk.

Ben comes in between us and pulls us under his arms. I attempt to squirm away, but he just pulls me in closer.

"So what're you sexy ladies talking about?" he asks curiously as if we were actually going to tell him. "Anything I can get in on?"

"Like we would tell you" Kylie retorts getting out of Ben's grasp.
I follow soon after.

"Ugh you're a crappy excuse for a human being Ben." I shudder, amusingly, knowing exactly what is about to happen between him and Ky. Ky and Ben, short for Benjamin have the strangest relationship. Although Ky attempts to forget it, they were once friends with benefits. Ben seems to think that they'll always hold that title. Any chance he gets he's up her ass, figuratively, according to Kylie. Ky seems to regret letting him in; Though the gossip mill still churns with rumors of an ongoing affair.

As we arrive Clement Park, we mark our territory with adolescent savagry. Ben acts like a rabid dog by jumping on top of the benches, and howling. Of course he pulls Ky along with him, who's pretty compliant. She kicks of her Louis sneakers and joins in behind him. Alex and Jay tip over a trash can and shout, ensuring that they tap into that spicy testosterone.

Once we arrive to our spot, next to the abandoned playground, we spread out onto a grassy patch in a corny little circle. I've always had a thing for abandoned places. It's fun to imagine the past they've been through. Alex pulls out a blunt that he kept stashed in an empty Altoid case. I watch as he lights it gracefully. What a damn pro. I situate myself in between Jay and Kylie. Sasha stares at me like I killed her puppy. I smile obnoxiously. Jay and Ky nudge me simultaneously while rolling their eyes.

Sasha pulls Jay by the neck to kiss her. He kisses her quickly and reaches for the blunt, takes a few pulls, then places it into her mouth. Gross.

"Y'all are going to make me vomit." Alex says.

"Oh come on. Don't be such a prude." Alexis says smiling.

"Better than being a whore." Ky says widening her eyes viciously. Alexis then squeezes boobs together, enhancing her already pronounced cleavage.

"At least I can own it." She says sticking her tongue out at Ky. They both laugh.
Jay passes me the blunt, and I refrain, then pass it to Ky.

Jay pulls some coronas out from his backpack. As he's passing them around I reach for his as he was leaning in to take a sip.

"Thank you." I say.

Ahh. It definitely tastes better coming from his can.

"So...." Ben says. "How was everyone's day?"
