Just Friends?

Chapter 5

When we get to Ky's house, Mrs. Fitzgerald a.k.a Anastasia greets us.

"Hello my children, and Mia"

"Hi Ann"

"Hi mom" Alex and Ky respond at the same time.

"Chinese is on the table, and Mia you know where the sleeping bags and sheets are right?"

"Yea"

"Ok. good."

"Mom where are you going?"

" I have to go back to work, I was paged."

"But I thought it was you day off?" I say.

"So did I Mia. So did I." She sighs and walks out the door.

Ann's an OBGYN, so the means she's on call all the time, because her patients can't say 'ok I will hold this baby in until tomorrow since it's Dr. Fitzgerald's day off.' so she's on call 90% of the time.

Mr. Fitzgerald is usually never home. He owns a bunch of companies and businesses in Dubai.

As Ann leaves, Ky and I walk up the Spiral staircase, and walk down the hallway, to her room, I take out the fuzzy bean bag chairs and the extra ass mini table, from her closet. Then I jump onto her queen sized bed as I do everytime.

Ky comes back a few minutes later with the food and drinks.

I get up and help her set it on the mini table.

While eating we pretty much remain quiet not realizing that we were hungry until now. "Did I leave my fuzzy blanket?"

"Which one?"

"The grey one?"

"Oh yeah" she chews, then takes a sip of seltzer. "It's in the closet on the left top shelf." Ky finally breaks the small talk.

"So... how was the kiss?"

I cough on a piece of general Tso chicken "what kiss?" I do my best to evade the topic.

"With Jayden" she says taking out her fortune cookie.

"Ehhh, wasn't anything special." I shrug.

She the cookie in half and gives one half to me.

We read the fortune together 'those who lie end up being lied to repeatedly'

Ky immediately looks over at me, but then takes another bite. I wonder which lie she's referring to because I personally haven't told any recently.

"So how was your slobbery kiss with your lover. it was much more passionate than mine."

"Don't ever bring it up again." She presses her lips together and tries to remain serious then she bursts out laughing and soon I join in. "Nothing special." I look at her skeptically.

"Alex!!!" She shouts.

A couple minutes later Alex comes out of breath.

"What do want?"

"Don't you wanna sit with us?"

"Actually Jay and Ben are coming over"

"mom didn't say you could invite people over, and seriously Ben???!" Kylie scolds.

"Yea whatever!" he retorts as he heads back downstairs.

Ky and I continue talking, then we hit pause and I go downstairs to bring down the garbage and stuff. I also decide to pop some popcorn as well.

As we are down there the doorbell rings.

"Oh fuck" I remember that the two are also coming, I crouch behind the counter.
