"It's been two days" Ky says. she walks over to the kitchen.
"Yea, but I can't bring myself to look at him" I lie know that that is not the reason.
"Mia your being dramatic." Ky comes back in with a tub of mint chocolate chip.
"No I am not, i'm actually sick." I hug myself in my flannel pajamas feeling absolutely comfortable.
"mhmm" Ky gives me an unconvinced nod.
"Fine don't believe me then!" I grab a spoon and dig in. "Mmm this is so good " I speak with my full, savoring the chocolaty chunks in the ice cream melt in my mouth, the mint is creamy which compliments the taste of the chocolate.
"Woah don't hog it all up!" Ky grabs my spoon and takes a large chunk off of the mountain of greenish colored ice cream.
"Hey get your own spoon and ice cream." I wine. I feel my stomach churn, and I burp loudly tasting a bit of the minty ice cream, but also a hint of bile. I ignore the rancid taste and take another spoonful in hopes of it going away.
"So what really happened between you to? It can't be just a harmless kiss."
"Well that was literally all it was" I lie.
"Then why are you so bent up about it?"
"I'm not. I told you i'm actually sick."
"mhmm." She gives me a nod. "Whatever, all I know is that you shouldn't be wasting your breath with him. He's not worth it."
"So what did you do today?" I ignore her and try to change the subject.
"Mia, your supposed to be getting ready!" Thankfully my mother comes in annoyed, Charlie at her side, without a shirt on.
"Mom!" I scuff.
"Get ready, and stop eating icecream! Oh Hi Kylie how are you?"
"I am good. How about you?"
"I'm alright, just a little stressed is all." My mom sighs.
My mom gives on more penetrating look before I cave.
"well i'm gonna go." Kylie gets her coat and slips through the front door.
"But see you tomorrow!""Bye." I feel my stomach turn again and I run to the kitchen to the adjoining half bathroom. I clench my stomach while hovering over the toilet. Just as I think it's over, I feel it coming up burning my throat as it does. "Uhhh" I groan clutching my stomach.
"Mia? Lets go!" My mother comes in to the bathroom and looks at me throwing up my guts.
"Oh Mia." She sighs and pulls back my hair while I retch until I have nothing left in my stomach. "Hurry up please." I know that that it's her attempt to show she cares. My mother awkwardly pats my back."Ok mom i'm ready." I get up feeling nausous.
"Mia. I told you not to eat that ice cream." My mom nags just as I thought she would.
"Mom." I complain.
"Just go get ready." She
"Ugh. Fine." I climb weakly up the stairs. almost loosing my grip my mother comes up behind me before I fall.
"Be Careful Mia."
"Mom, stop" I stomp heavily to my room.
I feel my heart pounding as I lean my back against my door and slide down so my mother doesn't come in."Mia! Open this door!"
I wipe the tear that slid down my check.I don't answer.
"Mia please! You don't have to talk to me, just come out!"
I decide that I'm being dramatic so I get up and slip on some sweat pants and an oversized T-Shirt. I open the door then walk right past her and she lets out a sigh and follows me.I do not speak and I don't even make eye contact with her. Honestly I am tired of her hovering over me as if I were seven. We get out I walk in front of her.
"Mia slow down a bit!" She calls from behind.I sit on the cold examination table, wearing only a flowery gown.
I look down at my bare toes dangling and rest my elbows on my knees.
I feel cold, uncomfortable, I shiver at the thought of what is waiting on the other side of the door."Are you decent?" Dr. Sampson voice is muffled on the other side of the thick chestnut colored door.
"Ye.." I start.
He comes in without waiting for an answer.***
