chapter 11: memory 10
~*~
Mary's POV
All I did was nod.
That's what Cameron told me; all I did was nod. He didn't tell me if we actually kissed. It sounds like we did, but it's not like I remember it.
It's later in the day and I'm in my room, laying on my bed with a million thoughts racing through my mind. Were Cameron and I something more than just best friends before?
My thoughts are interrupted when my phone starts ringing beside me. I grab it to see that Cameron is calling me, so I answer it. "Hey Cameron."
"Hey," he says, "I'm going to say a name and you have to tell me your first thoughts when you hear it, okay?"
"Um... okay?" I agree hesitantly. Who knows what he's up to now.
He takes a deep breath before saying, "Augustus Waters."
I scrunch up my eyebrows. "Who's Augustus?"
He sighs. "Your favorite fictional character ever."
"Really?" I ask. "Explain."
"How about I just give you a book, and when you're finished we can talk about it..."
"Okay." I agree and I thought he would hang up after that, but he told me he wanted to stay on the phone and talk to me.
We ended up talking for hours until both of us were too sleepy to even keep our eyes open, let alone keep going with a conversation.

The next day, I'm in a surprisingly super good mood. It's a bit unusual for me. Ever since I got home from the hospital I was just in a naturally horrible mood.
After showering and brushing my teeth, I went back into my room to get dressed. I saw a whole bunch of makeup and stuff related to that on the desk in my room and I sighed. I haven't put on makeup at all yet. I don't know how I did my makeup everyday before, so I don't want to start again.
I looked in my closet. All I really had for clothes was skinny jeans and sweaters. I looked around for something else to wear, and a few seconds later there was a knock on my bedroom door. Along with a knock followed two girly voices. "Mary, open up!"
I recognized the voice. It belonged to purple-haired Diana. I went over to my bedroom door and opened it, revealing Diana and Raine.
"What are you doing in your robe?!" Raine laughs.
"You need to get ready," Diana tells me. "We're supposed to meet Cameron in an hour."
"For what?" I ask with a puzzled look. They ignore me and suddenly Raine is going through my closet and Diana is plugging in a curling iron. I wondered to myself, how were they friends with me before? I seem so different than them.
"Sit your ass down, Mary." Diana commands and smiles to make it seem less harsh, pointing at the chair in front of my desk. I do what she says and sit down.
She begins to curl my hair and they chat with me until my hair is in loose curls and Raine has an outfit laid out for me. It did not look like the rest of the clothes I was looking through in my closet.
"This dress was at the back of your closet," she explains as I look at the floral printed dress. There was also a cute jean jacket along with it and for shoes she said I could decide. I decided to wear a pair of white converse and the two girls smile at me. "You look like the old Mary Brooks."
