chapter 16: nash

~*~

Cameron's POV

I sighed to myself, hating the fact my parents made me go out of town with them. I would much rather be with Mary, discussing our memories together.

I wonder how the others went about with the memories? I could only think of the worst possible to happen. I could get back tomorrow and see Mary and Shawn in a relationship, or the memory jar completely lost, or one of them could tell Mary something and she would completely hate me.

But Mary would never date Shawn, and how could they lose a jar? And there is nothing they could say that is true that Mary would hate me for.

Cameron: How is everything?

Cameron sent his text to the group on iMessage that didn't involve Mary. He just wanted to see if things were going well.

Jack Gilinsky: well Shawn told Mary that they kissed

Shawn: Seriously, Jack ?!

Jack Gilinsky: What?

Shawn: Nobody was supposed to tell him!

Nash: well maybe you shouldn't have said that to Mary when it wasn't true lol

Raine: yeah Shawn u dick

Diana: I'm scared for Cameron's reply

Jack Johnson: yeah he's gonna be pissed lmao

Shawn: okay

Aaron: Now shawn is upset, good job guys

Matt: who wants pancakes

Cameron: okay first of all, fuck you shawn. second, shut the hell up Matthew nobody wants pancakes. Also, thanks Jack for telling me. Why would you lie to her about that shawn?! She's so sensitive and emotional and she would never believe you.

Raine: Actually, I want pancakes.

I got aggravated and shut off my phone. I didn't want to talk to them anymore and they were all still conversing in the group message, making my phone go off over and over. That's why I just shut it off completely.

Mary's POV

It was day fifteen. It was about half way through the memories and the month of August, and there has been barely any progress with regaining my memory.

"Hey, why do you look so stressed out?" Nash asked me. Nash were outside in Cameron's backyard, laying on the hammock. We laid opposite ways so that my bottom half was where his upper half was, and vise versa. I just fiddled with my fingers and Nash didn't speak at all. It was an amazing peaceful, relaxing feeling. It was quite hot outside but the hammock was under the huge tree, causing the shade to keep us both cool.

"Because I am stressed out." I answer.

"Aw, come on." Nash pats my leg. "Isn't this relaxing?"

"Yeah, but it's also super quiet, which is making me think a lot..." I sigh.

"Tell me what you've been thinking about."

I don't tell him at first, but then I realize it's just us out here, and Cameron isn't here for me to talk to. "I wish I knew how differently people were treating me ever since that accident. I don't remember how people acted towards me before, so I can't compare it."

"But I can." I see him smile. "If there's anything you want to know, just ask."

"Are you always this nice?"

He chuckles, "Not at all."

"Then why are you being so nice to me?" I giggle.

"Because I have a soft spot in my heart for you."

"Or is it just because you feel bad for me?"

"You wanna know something? Everyone is nice to you, and I mean before the accident. You were a very likable person. Of course most people thought you were quiet, but you were so sweet and kind and you had a huge heart. You--"

"Nash." I interrupt.

"Yeah?"

"Can you stop talking in past tense?"

"I'm sorry." he quickly apologizes. "Do you want me to keep going?"

I shake my head, even though I do want him to keep going. I want to know more, but I want Cameron to be the one to tell me. "Can you just... I don't know, talk to me?"

"Of course." Nash says, and then he starts telling me about the time he first met me when he moved here in the fourth grade. That was apparently two years after Cameron and I met, and we happily excepted him to be our friend.

I don't remember of course, but it makes me smile anyway.

After an hour of talking with Nash, I was in a good mood and everyone else showed up.

"Ready for some more memories?" Jack smiles at me. I forgot which Jack it was... Of course, I already forgot which Jack was which. All I know was it was the dark-haired Jack.

Everyone sits in the grass in the shade, Nash and I still laying on the hammock. Raine has the jar once again.

"I found this memory up in Cameron's room, memory thirty-one." Raine says.

I freeze. Cameron wants to save that memory for last. But they don't know that.
