<Jack>
I ran and I ran after hearing the bang. I ran against the nurses pleas that I was not strong enough and I ran and ran.
Sophia and Finn scream as the bullet was shot into their friend
It was me against the world. I slowed down as I felt weak. They needed me. I needed them.
Wyatt jumped to his feet and cried and cried and cried as he placed Jaeden's head in his lap.
I spot several guards who try to stop me but they freeze. I turn and see why. My father told them to stop.
The guards let Jeremy go as Jeremy erupts into tears. Jeremy runs down the stairs to his friends.
My father looks down and I knew this wasn't good. Nothing ever is.
Wyatt weeps as Jaeden slowly loses consciousness.
My father doesn't say a word. And for the first time in forever, he walks up to me and hugs me, tight like he used to at home.
Sophia, Finn, and Jeremy stand in front of the stage and hold each other as they witness everything go down in front of them.
"It's all over." He whispers to me. I look up into his eyes and see him crying.
Jeremy breaks from the hug and walks onto the stage. He picks up the gun Jaeden's father dropped and shot him in the head.
In the corner of my eye, I can see Jeremy's father and Sophia's mother hugging Chosen's father as he silently cries.
Screams escape Wyatt's lips. He cries and cries but nothing can sooth the pain he is feeling. Nothing but a bullet.
Everything made sense at that moment. My heart dropped to my chest and there I was, running again. Running seemed to be the only way I could escape my fears. Even with a fresh wound and a large cast.
Jaeden reaches his hand up and Wyatt grabs it and kisses it. His tears falling on the wooden stage. His heart no longer a whole.
I burst open the door and everyone turns to me. No one is happy it's over. No one is smiling and celebrating. Because we're a family.
Jaeden utters words to Wyatt that only he could hear. Wyatt kissed his cold lips one last time before his time was up.
I stood there with Sophia. When Finn realized I was there he tackled me to the ground.
"This isn't the end to our story." Wyatt weeps. "Where's our happy ending?" Another tear falls. Blood seeps through Jaeden's shirt and he starts to gasp for air.
Finn kisses me all over and holds me tighter than anyone has ever held me before. He held me like he was going to lose me. But I wasn't going anywhere. We, weren't going anywhere.
"Happy end-end-endings are only fairytales." Jaeden forces out. He's faded. He's gone.
Finn looks at me in the eye and kisses me. This kiss, is forever the best. It wasn't a romantic kiss and it wasn't a later kiss but it was a promise kiss.
Wyatt's hand is on Jaeden's cheek as he wipes away Jaeden's fallen tear. "But you're a hero, Jae. You deserve your happy ending."
Finn helps me up and he keeps me in his arms. We stand there tall, together. Sophia joins the hug and so does Jeremy .
Jaeden brushes Wyatt's hair out of the way. "I love you, Wyatt." He utters.
We look at each other and we realize that Chosen was gone. "Left or right. He chose right." Finn whales. There's a lump in my throat and I feel sick. Sophia cries harder into Jeremy's chest and everything is falling down right when we just had the strength to put it back up.
"Don't say that, it sounds like a goodbye."
The four of us walk on the stage and sit in front of Wyatt and Jaeden but give them enough space.
"Then how about a see you later."
Our hearts beat as one. Every person has one of those, a heart. Some hide theirs some show them off like a trophy's but everyone has them. Everyone is the same one way or another.
"It should've been me."
Deaths are the worst thing that can happen. Especially good people. Especially when you're not expecting it. Because you never know what the last words you say will be the last words they hear. You never know the last time you see them will be your last. Which only makes it hurt much more.
"It hurts, Wy."
We cry for Chosen. We cry for Jaeden. We cry for ourselves because he may die but we're left with the memories.
"Close your eyes, baby."
We cry for the world. We cry for those how have lost someone who means something to them. We cry for the underdogs who never got a chance to have their names be known.
Strength leaves Jaeden's body slowly then all together. "It was always you." Wyatt utters. "That day in school, when I saw you, or when I saw you in the halls, you made my heart jump. It always has been you."
Finn grabs my hand and holds it right. He stares into my eyes deeply. "Marry me."
"I love you." And the time finally came. As the wood stage turned red. As their tears came down even harder. As the world stopped. Jaeden's eyes closed, for good.
