<Wyatt>

It's been a week since we first arrived. We're almost out of food and we need to do something or else we'll starve. Other than that, we have been getting along for the most part. Almost like brothers...plus Sophia. Of course, there have been several altercations but they're always worked out with the help of Jaeden being a mediator.

We all know what we have to do now. We were all gathered on the couches, half asleep.

"We start our jobs today. Jeremy and Wyatt, I saw three fishing poles in the garage. There are buckets, too, and you'll have to find your own bait. Jack, Chosen, and Finn, there are hoses and hoes and all that great stuff in the shed. And I'll help Sophia get set up while preparing for dinner. Break." Jaeden directed. Jaeden kind of became the leader. Probably from being class president and everything. Everyone slowly started to disassemble, all muttering not-so friendly words under their breaths, but I stayed back.

I place a hand on Jaeden's elbow without realizing I was even doing it. "You know to find me if something happens, right?" I hope. He looks at me and chuckled.

"Are you worrying about me, Wyatt?" He crosses his arms and grins at me. Worrying about him? Me? No.

"No, I'm not. I'm just-I'm just." He has a smug look on his face. "Whatever." I huff.

Jaeden combs a hand through his perfectly styled hair. "I'll bring you out some lunch later." He pats my back and follows Sophia upstairs to collect everyone's clothes.

I got this weird feeling when he touched me. A feeling I can't explain. But it's a feeling I want more of. I've felt it several times before when we touched, I know what it meant, I just couldn't believe it.

I walk outside with Jeremy. He got all of our gear for me and we walked to the creek. He found us boots so we wore them since it was muddy. Near the woods was this creek. There was a small bridge that went over it. II knew the fish wouldn't be the biggest but it'd be enough to feed us for the mean time.

"How are we going to get bait?" He wondered. He started to think and I just looked at him.

I have my hands on my hips and just stare at him. "We dig." I put. He gave me a questioning look. "You know...for worms."

"Oh, of course." I laughed at him and we started to dig. It wasn't that cold out. We were both wearing jeans and t-shirts that will later be caked in dirt. We had a few dozen worms and placed them in the bucket.

I hooked my worm and he looked at me in awe. "You don't know how to do it do you?" I ask him. He shrugs. I take his pole and show him how to do it. We send our lines in and we wait. "Did we have any classes together, I don't recall seeing you?" I converse.

"Bio, study hall, lunch, gym, AP physics." He lists. My jaw drops.

Huh, I forgot I took AP physics. "I'm sorry." I felt like a fool.

"Don't be. I'm a quiet kid." He claims. We talked for almost half and hour before I got a tug on my line. I reeled it in until I saw the fish flopping in the air. I caught a Redfish and I put it in the second bucket filled with water. I high fived Jeremy. "Nice!" He cheered. He wasn't a bad kid. Just a kid with a story to tell. A story I'm yet to learn.

<Jack>

The three of us stand outside. "Chosen, you take care of the chickens. You feed them and check for eggs. Finn and I will weed today and plant a few more. When you're done with the chickens the three of us will get the vegetables and fruits from the plants that already have ripened." I scheme. We spilt up and get to work.

Finn and I grab a bucket and gloves and get on our hands and knees. We start to weed.

"Jack," Finn utters. I look up and meet his gaze. "Thanks for not giving up on me."

"Thanks for changing."

We get back to work and make small talk. After we get a decent amount we dump the weeds in the woods and go over to the fresh patch of soil. We plant carrots for today. I made the holes and Finn dumped the seeds. We both poured water and Chosen walked over to us.

"There are ten chickens and eight eggs." He enlightens us. We nod and each grab baskets. We fill them with fruit and vegetables until they're full.

It was obvious none of us had any idea what we were doing but we tried. I almost laughed. I wondered when the quadradic formula would come into play. "We make a good team." I tell the two of them. We all high five and notice the sun is starting to set.

I hadn't even realized how hungry I was until now. "You know, never in a million years would I have though I'd be with you two, trapped in a house, gardening." Finn said. We both agreed.

Today is the start of our new lives.

<Sophia>

Jaeden and I collected everyone's clothes. We went to the bathtub and he handed me soap before leaving. I filled the bathtub and added soap to the tub. I washed everyone's clothes one by one by hand. I then rinsed them out and Jaeden created a cloth line with me. I hung up everyone's clothes.

I felt like we were in the olden days and we had to wash our clothes by hand and pick our own food. We didn't have technology and we had to do things ourselves. Maybe that was the experiment.

When I was done I went down to the kitchen and Jaeden told me to broom while he gave everyone lunch. He handed me a broom and I swept every room while he prepared dinner. When I was done I dusted. Then I helped Jaeden set the table. That's when a dirty Chosen, Jack, and Finn entered. They went ahead and showered.

An hour later Jermey and Wyatt entered with four small fish. We would cook two now and place the other two in the outside fridge. After everyone showered we sat down at the table. Jaeden cooked Wyatt's fish. He made a salad from the garden and he also made bread from scratch.

We all looked at each other and we all looked tired. We're not used to working like this. Maybe this was a good thing. Maybe we would learn something.

"To new beginnings." I toasted. Everyone held up their cup.

"To new beginnings!"
