I woke up to someone softly shaking my shoulder. I looked up to see dad."Time to wake up. You gotta go to school." I groaned sitting up and rubbing my eyes. "I got to go to the office, so I have to take you to school a little bit early if that's okay." I just nodded standing up and headed to the closet. "Don't forget to take your medicine." With that, he left the room.
Once I had gotten ready, only dressing in a pair of sweatpants; a tank top; and a zip-up hoodie, I grabbed my bag and phone then headed downstairs. I grabbed an apple and sat at a stool as I ate.
Soon I heard dad yell that we were leaving, so I got up and headed outside. As I was walking to the car I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked over to see Tyler heading to his car. As soon as he saw me he stopped in his tracks staring at me. Nervously, I hurried into the car and thankfully, dad immediately pulled out of the driveway. But, I couldn't pull away without seeing the look of hurt in Tyler's face.
When we got to school, I got out, saying bye to dad, then headed inside. A few people saw me saying 'glad you're feeling better.' They weren't really my friends, but they were in one of my classes and heard what had happened to me.
I headed to my locker and grabbed what I needed. I made sure to grab the homework I had finished so far and stuff them into my bag. Suddenly, I was attacked by hugs. I screeched only to realize it was Grace and Sierra. I laughed hugging them back. Once we pulled away, I could see the big smiles on their faces.
"We're so glad you're back. We missed you being here." Sierra said.
"I would say I missed it, too, but I'd be lying about missing this place." I laughed.
We still had about 20 minutes until class started, so we just stood by my locker talking about random stuff. Suddenly, I saw Grace tense up as she looked in the distance. I followed her gaze to see she was looking at Tyler at his locker.
She looked at me looking at him. "Are you going to talk to him?"
My gaze didn't leave him as I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know anymore."
"You're going to have to at some point. School is over in a couple weeks. Do you really want your last couple of weeks of high school to be miserable without him in your life." I instantly looked at her. "You know you miss him. And yes, he fucked up big time, but he loves you. People make mistakes, but what matters is that they try to fix it and learn from it." I looked back at him to see he was staring back at me. "Don't you think he's suffered enough?"
I looked down at my feet then back at Grace. "At lunch. I promise." She nodded just as the bell rang for class.
I looked towards him just in time to see him walking off, but I didn't miss the tear falling down his cheek before he quickly wiped it away.
"You coming?" Sierra asked as they start walking away.
"No, I'll meet you in class." They questionably nodded then left.
I dug into my bag to find a piece of paper and a pen. I wrote what I needed then walked over to Tyler's locker. I slipped the note into his locker, knowing he was going to see it the class before lunch because he always goes to it then.
With that, I headed to class.
~~~
Once the bell rung I immediately jumped out of my seat and quickly walked out of class. I headed to the exit and went behind the school and waited.
When the second bell rung, my heart dropped. Was he not coming?
Just then I heard footsteps only to see Tyler appear seconds later. As soon as he saw me he froze. Soon he continued the few paces closer to me.
"This is from you?" He asked showing me the note I wrote saying 'meet me behind the school. I miss you.' I nodded. He stayed silent for a moment. "I thought you hated me."
"I kind of do." He looked down, hurt. "But, I still love you." He quickly looked up with hope glimmering in his beautiful eyes.
"You do?" I nodded. "I love you, too." He immediately went to hug me but I backed up. The hurt instantly came back to his eyes.
"I'm still hurt by what you did. I don't know how to forget that."
"I'm so sorry, Willow. I really never meant to hurt you. I..."
"I heard everything you said when you were in my hospital room." Shock appeared on his face. "I know you thought I was asleep, but I wasn't." He looked down at his feet in embarrassment. "But, I'm glad I heard you because now I know that you really do care about me."
"I do." He immediately said looking into my eyes. "I love you more than anything. I know I fucked up, and I'm sorry that I made that stupid bet. And yeah, maybe I wouldn't have asked you out when I did, but honestly, I probably would've eventually."
"Really?"
"Willow, how could I not? You're absolutely gorgeous, more than anyone I've ever seen. You're smart and so sweet. I mean come on, you live directly across from me. I would've figured out a way to get you." He paused. "My friends made that bet because they knew I was interested in you from the first day of school when I saw you in our first period class. They knew from then I saw so much more in you. They were just trying to push me into asking you out sooner. I'm glad they did because every time we spent together I fell so hard in love with you."
"Tyler, I..." I didn't know what to say.
"Please, Willow, give me another chance." He kneeled down grabbing my hands and looked into my eyes. He started to tear up. "I love you so much, and I don't want... no, I can't lose you. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I don't want to lose that."
I stood there frozen. Maybe it was time to forgive him.
"I love you, too, Tyler."
He immediately smiled, stood up, and grabbed my face bringing me into a kiss.
At this moment, I knew everything was going to be okay because I had Tyler Anderson by my side.
