"How?" I asked.
"Please c..come to th..this hospital." She sobbed.
"Alright. I'm coming. Turn on your GPS. I'll be there. Don't worry." I said as I felt my eyes turn glossy.
"Mommy, uncle Carter had an accident. I'll have to rush to the hospital." I got up.
"How?"
"I don't know. You guys take care. I'll see when I can come." Quickly planting a kiss on mommy's head, I nodded at daddy and took the car keys to rush to the hospital in my sweatpants.
I can not afford anything happening to him. He has to be fine.
I slammed my hand on the steering wheel, agitated due to the traffic.
"Uncle Carter had an accident. I don't know how. Sending you the address. Come." I muttered on the call and texted him the address.
Come fast Andy.
I couldn't think clearly. I wanted to inform him but my brain didn't second.
"Mr Carter Williams? Emergency?" I asked as I ran into the hospital.
"Maam straight, second left turn." The nurse said.
I hope he is all right!
"Eve." Aunt Jane's sob ripped through the air as she threw herself at me.
"Shh. Tell me what happened." I asked trying to sooth her.
Irony.
"He lost a lot of blood. I don't know how I'll live without him."
"How did it happen?"
"He ..he left for the grocery. Suddenly, I received a call saying he had an accident. I don't know."
"Alright." I asked her to sit.
"Where is your son?" I asked.
"He's still in Germany. It's his final year." She said trying to hide that the jerk doesn't care.
"Excuse me, I just wanted to ask about the emergency case.."
"Mr Williams?" I nodded impatiently.
She looked at aunt who was staring helplessly and vulnerably at us.
I gestured her for a side.
I know I wasn't ready for any kind of blow but she was his wife.
"Yeah?"
"He met with a serious head on. He has lost a lot of blood. There are chances of internal injuries. The doctors are working on the cuts on his body. Once his physical condition is normal and blood is controlled, we'll go for internal check up." I bit my lower lip, fear coursing through me like electricity.
"Maam. We'll try our best. The treatment will be costly."
Are you kidding me?
You just told me that I can lose a person so important in my life and all you care about is cost?
"Whatever the need is. Tell me." I said and started walking towards the seat.
I felt dizzy, suddenly feeling like I'm going to fall. I blinked.
Someone caught me from behind, supporting me.
"Calm down." I heard.
I could hear a distinct phone call but I refused to look up.
"Sit down." He said.
"Andy. He's...."
"I know. I was at the reception only." He said making me sit beside him.
I held my head in frustration.
God! Could've done something to me. I wouldn't have complained till Mia was fine. But him? Please save him.
"SJ came with me but he went for a phone call." He explained.
"Let him be."
An hour later, there was no update. I had my head resting on Andy's shoulder and my eyes nearly spilling out tears. My heart beat was increasing with each second and I felt like someone has shoved something into my throat. My mouth was dry and I felt it was all unreal.
I got up some time later to go to the reception.
"Any update ma'am?" I asked the nurse at the reception. She shook her head at my desperate self.
"Yeah. ...I'll meet you as soon as possible. We can give it time later. That is... important to me. But this is too. Take care ...baby." I heard his voice.
