There's a
place
inside
of me
full of
every
memory
of
you
a surface
where
it was us
isolated from the world
like a castle
in the forest
where
we can
dance
and kiss
without a
worry
of tomorrow
planning our future with
adopted kids
at the age of twelve
young
and
in love
didn't make us stupid
we were
innocent
thinking
it would last
growing up as kids
we never thought
we'd be each other's
first kiss
whoever knew
it would be us two
it didn't take us a moment
to think
we had the best thing
it took
five years
to build
five
million
tears
and I wanted to drown
in the seas
surrounding us
knowing
all the pictures
would be
the
only
place;
all the sandcastles
we built
were struck by the lightning
in our hearts
dancing on rooftops
and skateparks
thunder struck us
in the rain
dancing
at
3am
every
weightless
bittersweet kiss
I sank in the seas
trying to sail away
from the world we created
knowing you had to stay
while I left
and although
I wanted to go with you
I got
the chance to
kiss
you
goodbye;
and although
it's been years since
we parted
I get
a little
homesick
and
think of you
like
it was
just the other day
while I'm
sitting
here
knowing that...
we were
once
upon a time;
not yesterday
today
or
tomorrow
nor are we
now.
