As Harry's eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room, he found it to be quite cozy. In the center of the room, there were four couches arranged in a square around a coffee table, paintings of royals hung on the walls, and the carpet was a deep shade of maroon, candles floated near the ceiling of room, which made him feel a bit better about trusting these people. Draco held his hand tightly, sweat collecting in his palm. Their shoulders touched and he felt him growing closer as they walked further into the room.
The man that had opened the door for them followed behind, he wore a dark hood that hide his face from their view. As they got closer to the roundup of couches, they noticed another man, dressed the same as the first, sitting with great amenity. He stood and the other man walked past them to stand next to him. He whispered something to them and they both removed their hoods.
Both men were fairly young, good looking at that, sharp jawlines with little stubble. "You must be Harry potter, not sure who you are, but we've heard about you, Harry." the tallest of the two men said.
Harry knew that Draco had rolled his eyes at that probably thinking something along the lines of, 'of course you've heard of Harry potter'. Harry cleared his throat before speaking. "Um, yeah. I'm Harry, um, who are you?"
"I am Rindr," the same man who spoke first said, "and this is Geb. we are obviously american wizards. We have read the countless news articles proclaiming about Voldemort, and his defeat. Once we had heard you went missing we knew you had come here. Harry Potter couldn't have just disappeared from off the face of the earth." Draco snorted, "what I would like to know is, who is this guy? And why is he holding your hand?"
"I am Draco Malfoy," he said with great esteem. "And I am holding his hand because he is my fiance. Hope that doesn't bother you, well actually, I don't care."
Harry cleared his throat loudly, casting a warning glance at him. "Oh no that's fine, really," Rindr said. "Anyway, could you possibly tell us why you decided to leave, surely you had a great life back there, with the whole defeat of the most corrupt wizard of all time. Wouldn't they award you or something?"
"Yeah, I didn't really want the attention, I guess. I mostly left because well-" he wasn't sure if he should tell them about Draco. What if they thought badly of him?
"Because I had been one of his followers, and the ministry was trying to track them all down and imprison them. We left to protect me from that." Draco finished for him.
"You left so he could be safe, wait, how in the world did you two get together if he was on the opposite side of the war? Wouldn't that have been, like, forbidden or something, what would people have thought to find out that Harry Potter was the finance to one of his followers?" Rindr motioned for them to sit and they obeyed, still holding tightly to one another's hands.
"It's a really long story actually." Harry began, "we used to hate each other, back in the first year of our schooling together. For like the first four years actually, it wasn't until fifth year that something changed. We had two other friends who kind of, made this plan to get us together."
"Well, it was mostly me" Draco pipped in, "you see, I had loved Harry from the first year, I was young, all little children have a different way of showing their love to one another, but as time went on, I couldn't really change our relationship, I had built this throne of ego, which included me being this cocky smart-ass who was kind of just emotionless, partly because that's what my father wanted me to be. But I would spend so much time complaining about him, my friend just kind of figured I had feelings for him, and I admitted to that, but there was still no way that Harry would fall for me, not with all those years of hell I had put him through. So she devised this plan to help me, it worked and it took a while, but we made up and forgave one another."
"Yeah, it happened before the war really got started, "Harry took over once more, " it was sixth year that he got the mark and his father kind of forced him to become a death eater, Voldemort gave him three tasks, one of which was to relinquish me to Voldemort. He completed the task and-" Draco shifted nervously beside him, "and, I was there for only a day or so before he came and rescued me. Which involved setting his house on fire and this whole thing with polyjuice and a fake Draco. Well when I didn't come out, he went into the fire and got me out, I had no idea, I had watched Voldemort kill him, or fake him, but he left me, to go hide from Voldemort with his mother in Siberia while I was left to save the whole wizarding world from obsolescence. He came back after the war, I was angry of course, but things happened and we decided to escape our old lives and live here. Until the ministry somehow was able to track us again."
"Harry, I think I know how they did it." Draco said, "you know back in sixth year when I told you about the whole arranged marriage with either one of the Greengrass girls, well I didn't follow through with that contract, they could've tracked me from the failure to complete what the contract said."
"Wow, arranged marriage, this just got a whole lot freakier," Rindr said. Draco breathed out impatiently as if telling himself not to punch the man.
"That makes a lot of sense, so how do we get rid of them?"
"I don't know, hide somewhere else."
"We can't just keep hiding. We'll eventually have to face up to them."
"Dammit Harry I know, just for a little longer."
"We don't have a little longer."
"We could-"
"No, Draco. We can't"
They were both on their feet now, they had released each other and were staring resentfully at each other. "Well, this got awkward," Rindr said breaking the silence. They turned their glares at him. His hands shot up in the air, "okay, we'll be leaving now, won't we Geb?" the got off the couch and left the room through a door in the back.
"Harry, we can't fight this."
"We can try."
"Sure, but we can't win."
"Why not? Why can't we win? Give me some reasons why you think we can't win."
"First off, we are two nineteen-year-old boys, going up against a whole ministry of much more powerful wizards than us."
"Your lack of faith disturbs me. I am the boy who saved the whole wizarding world, I think I can handle them. Besides, they'll listen to me." Harry told him boldly.
"Oh, you think you're all that, don't you? Well, guess what! You can't win everything, your luck will run out, without that what are you? Nothing, just a boy with a weird scar on his head. You can't win everything!"
"Thanks for reminding me how insignificant I really am." Harry almost yelled, but he couldn't find the strength to do it. Instead, it sounded more pathetic than anything. He was really hurt by what Draco had just said, and he couldn't hide that.
