Emily's POV
It was a short journey into the mountains next to the castle. The snow covered the trees so beautifully. I shivered at the cold wind on my face before pulling my jacket tighter to try to stay warm.
As we came upon the shrine of Zephara, we dismounted the horse. Drake kneeled at the shrine as he layed his sword at the base.
"Goddess of Night, Empress of blood, I call upon you Lady Zephara. Hear my words!" He said in a type of prayer.
A few moments passed before the Goddess herself appeared before us.
"Ah, Drake Vandermore. Its been quite some time since you've come to see me." She said as he stood.
"Hello Mother. Its good to see you." He said with a smile.
I almost couldnt believe it. Drake's mother was the Goddess of Vamparism.
"Its good to see you as well my son." She said as she hugged him.
"Mother, I have a favor to ask." He began.
"Of course. What might I grant you?" She replied with a smile. He long black hair swayed in the wind along with her long, yet reavealing, black dress.
"I ask of you the powers of night & blood. I require greater power to defeat the evil that threatens to plague the world." He said.
"I see. You wish to defeat the Queen, fulfill the prophecy, and bring peace back to the land. Very well. I hereby grant you the Nightstone Chalice, filled with the blood of your ancestors. Drink deeply of it, and you may have the power you seek." She said as she bestowed the Chalice to him.
He quickly recognized the Chalice as one from his books. It is said that when a powerful vampire drinks of the Nightstone Chalice, he will have to power darken the moon.
"Your words honor me Lady Zephara." He said as he gulped down the blood in the chalice.
As he finished drinking, the chalice disappeared from his hands. Within a few moments he had gripped his chest & fell to his hands & knees, straining himself.
"Drake!" I exclaimed before he waved me to stay back.
In one fluid motion he rose up onto his knees as a pair of wings exploded out of his back. With a long cry of agony he extended them fully.
I couldn't hardly believe my eyes. I've never seen the transformation of a vampire to its ultimate form...until now.
He breathed heavily as he staggered to his feet, his body still trying to adjust to the newfound power coursing throughout his veins.
"Thank you, Lady Zephara. I will use this gift in your honor." He said, leaning against the shrine for support.
"May the darkness shroud you as you stalk your enemies." She replied before disappearing into a dark mist.
Drake looked into the mist with a few final words before we left.
"Goodbye, Mother..."
