Omg it's the last chapter. I want to cry. But just do me one favor before it ends. When I put (play song) play it. The song that I included is very dear to my heart and it's basically the theme song for the entire book. Just listen to the whole thing. Even if you finished reading. Thank you for reading, and the sequel is coming soon. 😏

Chapter 35: the Priceless girl

My phone was pressed up to my ear as I listened to the recorded message of my little sister echoing once again in my ear. I had tried calling her again on the ride back to the apartment, but like all the other times, she didn't pick up. I had become quite familiar with the continuous message that she had recorded. Her voice seemed so young, so innocent. But now, she'd be nineteen. And I had no idea why she wouldn't at least pick up once. Just once.

I wanted so bad to slam the phone onto the console, but I didn't want Liv to think something was up. That was the last thing I needed. So I casually set it down and kept my eyes focused on the rode.

"Will.." Liv broke the silence as we had been silent for most of the ride back. I broke my gaze from the rode and glanced from her and back.

"What do you think Hal meant when he said it wasn't over? I mean.. is it really not over?"

I took her hand while keeping one hand on the wheel. "Olivia, he's psychotic. We shouldn't take anything seriously from him. But if he really is serious.." I trailed off. I honestly couldn't finish that sentence because I didn't know what was going to happen. And the feeling scared me.

I kept my eyes on the road, glancing back at Liv every once in a while. She stayed quiet, staring at the road with her hands fidgeting.

And that's when I got an idea.

If we were going to the apartment, I would've taken this next turn. But I didn't. I kept going straight.

"Um, Will." Liv glanced behind her seat at the road going smaller behind us.

"Just shush." I chuckled and kept driving. The sun was starting to go down and I could see it in the trees that were starting to grow thicker and thicker the farther I drove. Soon enough, we came into dead forest and passing cars began to dwindle.

"Will where are we going?" Liv laughed lightly trying to get my attention. I kept my gaze straight.

"You'll see." I tried holding back my smirk.

"Oh let me guess. The twist is you're going to take me in the middle of the woods and murder me. Isn't that right?"

"Olivia Winston you know I would never hurt you." I looked at her with loving eyes and I could see blush ride to her cheeks. I win.

Soon, I saw an opening in the trees and pulled over to the side of the rode. I got out and walked over to Liv's side, opening the door for her.

"You're sure I'm not about to be murdered?" She said as she extended her booted leg out of the car.

"I'm sure." I laughed and grabbed her hands, helping her up out of the seat. Liv looked me up and down.

"No rope, no knives-"

"Olivia."

"Alright fine." She huffed and started to walk towards the opening of the trees. I watched for a few seconds as she limped, but a look of content was plastered on her face. And I hope it stuck.

(Play song)

I ran toward her, my goal being to pick her up and spin her around. But she noticed me too soon and began to run. Or at least tried to run. With her limp prohibiting her, I was able to catch up to her and pick her up from behind, spinning her around into a bridal style.

I ran through the opening of the trees with Liv in my arms and finally set her down when I saw the view in front of me. She laughed and looped her arms around my neck, completely oblivious to the view behind her.

"Hey Olivia." I whispered in her ear. "Turn around."

She quirked an eyebrow and turned. I wished I could've seen her immediate reaction to the view in front of us. It was a vast valley filled with trees and a small river. It was amazing.

I moved next to Liv and looked at her, tears forming in her eyes. I subconsciously took her hand in mine and turned to face her, taking her other hand. I felt sorrow taking over me.

"Olivia.." I almost whispered. She looked up into my eyes, and my heart felt like it was going to melt.

"The whole thing about the surgery. I-I don't want. I don't want me stopping you from going through with it." God Why was I stumbling so much?

"I want it to be your decision. And-"

"Will." She cut me off and I hadn't even realized I was looking at the ground the whole time I was rambling like an idiot.

A hint of a smile appeared on Liv's face before she pressed her lips to mine. I tangled my hands in her hair as she tightened her hold on me.

We parted and I rested my forehead on hers.

"I'm going to do it. And I don't care about the odds. Because as long as you're there, I'm not the least bit worried about my health or my safety."

She looked up at me and a tear slid down her cheek. I wiped it away, a smile not even daring to leave my face.

All the worries that I had had completely faded away with in a few moments. And it was because of Olivia Winston. In only a few months, she had completely turned my whole world upside down, turning it into a completely new picture.

I knew without a doubt that I wouldn't leave her. Because she is undoubtedly.

Undeniably.

Incomparably.

Priceless.
