Reader's p.o.v

I sit up in my bed looking out the same old window I always do, same old curtains and same old bed. Slipping out from under the covers I stand walking to my closet opening it, I pull out one of the dresses lining the inside. A pretty red dress pinched in at the waist with ruffled sleeves, pulling off my night gown I put on the dress walking to my full body mirror. I comb through my hair quietly humming, this is how every day started for me. Get up, get dressed, comb my hair in front of the mirror then go make breakfast. I finish combing my hair and exit my bedroom, I yawn while walking but don't hit into anything since I've memorized this whole cabin back to front. I open the fridge and pull out bacon and egg's to make for breakfast, it still amazes me my papa can make such indepth machines so easily. It's like he just magically makes them appear while he's out, it's crazy but awesome as well.

I grab a pan from the hanging rack by the stove and turn on the stove, humming quietly I begin cooking breakfast. I hear footsteps behind me causing me to smile, looking back I see my papa sitting down at the dinning room table. He scratches his thick bushy brown beard yawning, I should probably start his coffee. I turn to the coffee maker and begin making his coffee, he has a cup every morning and I know exactly how he likes it. "Good morning Papa, did you sleep well?" He looks over to me with a warm smile, I return to cooking breakfast while I wait for his coffee to brew. "I slept just fine princess, what about you?" I slept the same as always, I would always tell him I slept well when I really didn't. I'd always have horrible nightmares, I don't want to worry him, so I tell him I am okay. "I slept great Papa, just as cozy as ever. Say could you write me a new book, I've read all the ones you've written!" He laughs loudly at my enthusiasm to read, ever since he taught me to read I've been glued to books.

It's not like there is many other things for me to do, I've heard of television and radio but papa says that those creations of his were too dangerous to let me see. Something about radioactive waves melting my brain, he's probably right like always. He does know best after all, it's so amazing that he goes outside every day when there is crazy creatures outside. "Of course (y/n), I'll write you some new books while I am out today getting food." I get a mug from the cabinet filling it with coffee, I add a teaspoon of sugar and open the fridge grabbing cream adding a small splash. Putting the cream away I serve papa's breakfast placing a fork and knife onto the plate before carrying it all to him, I place the plate in front of him and the mug to the side. "Thank you so much, I am excited to read more of your writing!" I walk back into the kitchen and continue to cook my breakfast, he pulls out his journal and begins writing in it quietly. Papa's journal was the one book he wrote I am never allowed to touch, I don't know why really but if he says, so I won't touch it.

As I serve my breakfast my thoughts begin to wonder, I've asked him a million times but I always get the same answer. I turn off the stove looking over towards papa." Papa is there anyone else out there, is it really just us in this cabin?" I walk to the table sitting down across from him, he lifts his gaze from his journal sighing softly at me. I stare at him quietly hoping for a new answer, it's so lonely out here in the woods I wish there was more people. "No (Y/n), it's just us left. All the other humans died out a long time ago, your mother passed away soon after you were born. What's with this overwhelming curiosity for other people?" I look down sadly, I never got to meet my mother which makes me extremely sad. I wonder what she was like, though papa doesn't seem to like talking about her. "I am just lonely, it's only us out here and one day we'll die to. What happens after that, does our species die out?" He sighs standing up from his seat walking around the table, leaning over he hugs me kissing my forehead lightly. "Don't worry about it too much, it's going to be a long time before we die."
