~~~~(Y/N)'S POV~~~~~
I place Lidia down patting her head gently, she hugs onto my legs smiling up at me. "Mommy can I go play outside?" I give her a gentle nod, and she runs outside to the front yard, walking to the kitchen I pull out some vegetables to begin cooking dinner. Even after 8 long years together everything still feels so surreal, we've had so many rough patches, but we always made it through. Girls have tried to steal my love from me, he never let his eyes stray away though. This beautiful life we have is exactly what I've always dreamed of, yet it feels so sad because a piece of my life is missing. I've not been able to get in contact with Abigail, the number of letters I have sent her is countless.
Did my father fire her after I left, did she pass away in the time that I was gone. There are so many questions that live in my mind, but each passing day I fear they'll never be answered. I feel arms wrap around me and a gentle kiss on my cheek, tilting my head back I smile at him. He's grown into a much softer look in these older years, kind of like the kind backyard bbq dad. Well that is exactly what he is, though a lot more artsy than that. "What's for dinner my beautiful wife." We've not exactly been able to actually get married, I have none of my records or paperwork, so I can't really do much. I still remember the moment he asked me to be his wife like it was yesterday, the tears wouldn't stop pouring At that moment.
~~~~~Flash back to 6 years ago~~~~~
"Hey (y/n)" I walk over and take a seat next to him, a camp fire flickering in front of us. Leaning into his side I hug his arm, every night out here under the stars always feels so romantic. "Yes love?" He reaches into his backpack and pulls out a small bag, a pretty blue ribbon is tied around the top. "Happy birthday." My eyes widen in surprise, he remembers my birthday every year but it never fails to shock me. No matter how little money we have he always finds a way to give me a gift, even though I tell him he doesn't need to. I take the bag from his hands and untie the ribbon, reaching inside I pull out a locket. It's a beautiful silver locket, so he must have been working hard while I wasn't looking just to buy me it, opening the locket I see a picture of him and me.
He is holding me close and kissing my cheek, I am smiling widely clearly laughing. This is such a a precious gift, just when I think he can't out do himself he always does. I look to the other side and notice it's blank, normally there are two pictures in a locket right? "Why is this side blank?" He reaches over and grabs my hands rubbing them gently, he seems sort of nervous for some reason. "It's for our future children, I wanted to leave a space to add a picture with them." That is such a sweet sentiment, he really is the perfect man. "And if we're going to have kids we'll be together forever right?" I raise my eyebrow in confusion at him, he's just now asking something like that? Of course, we're going to stay together, we ran away together two years ago it's kinda late to turn back.
"Of course, why are you asking?" He lets out a soft sigh releasing my hands, sticking his hand into his pocket. "Not asking, more like confirming because I want to spend the rest of my life with you. In fact, I want to spend eternity with you, this life and the next." He pulls his hand from his pocket and gets off the log we're sitting on, kneeling on one knee. He moves his hands in front of him and I see a box in his hands, could this be what I think it is. "You are 18 now (y/n), I can finally ask this question I've been waiting 2 years to ask. Will you marry me?" He opens the box revealing a small silver ring with a cut out of a bird in it, it's so simple yet so beautiful. Tears begin to flow down my face as I stare at him, that goofy nervous smile always melts my heart.
