Sarang

"You're telling me that you still want to be friends with that mental case?" Kai's voice raised octaves higher and I couldn't help but glare at him.

"Do you want to drive customers away?" I asked through gritted teeth as I sat on one of the chairs in our cafe, diligently completing my assignment because Xiumin was right beside him. I guessed he likes the smart type and this was the least I could do to seem like one.

It had been a couple of days since the incident and no matter how much I tried to run away, it eventually came back to bite me. Xiumin texted me a while ago that he was going to come over to the cafe to talk about something important and only I know how quickly I pulled out notebooks from my bag to pretend I was being a responsible girl and working on my assignment.

"Jun is really dangerous, Sarang. You were injured pretty bad when we found you yesterday. Please learn the difference between someone you need to help and someone you need to keep your distance from." Lay lectured using his words of wisdom. I agreed with him, but I was also unsure.

Jun was there for me when I was alone and now that he was alone and I had new friends, I felt like I was being unfair with him.

Xiumin noticed my troubled expression and gently took my hand from my lap. "You're not being selfish, if that's what you're worried about. Honestly, we wouldn't say anything if he hadn't taken you that day. I understand some of it was an accident, but he was reckless and you ended up getting hurt. You're not responsible for a person like that." His attempt at making me understand was interrupted by uncle who got his chance to trash-talk Jun.

"If I had to be honest, Jun has been the mental case since they were in school. He once had an argument with her and ended up pushing her off a flight of stairs." All the three Hellions turned to look at me.

"What the fuck is wrong with you if you're still considering being friends with someone like that?" Kai yelled in disbelief.

"It gets worse. He once saw her-"

"Uncle, enough." He ignored my comment and went on talking.

"-giving her phone number to a transfer student from their school, so he broke her thumb. Later, he claimed it was an accident." The way uncle said it made me feel like a dumb bitch that stayed by people even when they didn't value her. When had I fallen this low? No, I was probably like this since the beginning. I've always had to ask and beg for love and attention.

"I saw your thumb. It will take me a few attempts since its an old injury, but I think I can heal it." Lay suggested and I immediately looked up.

"Don't even think about it. I'm used to this now." I defended. It took him a couple of days to recover from healing my injuries from earlier. I couldn't imagine what this thumb injury would do to him.

"He would even go all psycho on people that became friends with her like Ji Hun and Young Mi. It was so creepy, like-" Before uncle could add any more fuel to the fire, Xiumin looked at me sternly.

"That's it." He breathed out. "I don't understand what kept you close to him for so long, but you can't meet him anymore." Xiumin commanded in a voice I didn't like at all.

"Don't tell me what I can and can't do." I closed the book in front of me and glared back at him. It was the first time he had spoken to me like that. "I need some time to clear my mind. I'll see you guys later." I stood up to leave, mostly because I didn't want to fight with Xiumin. Since I was a child, this is what I always did with everyone I knew. I fought with them. I didn't want to drive Xiumin away as well.

I made my way towards the candy store across the street to replenish my stock of Pocky. The sky was dark and the clouds looked a little agitated. It might rain later. "Sarang!" I quickened my pace when I heard Xiumin's voice behind me. The sound of his footsteps were getting closer and I couldn't help but get irritated at the fact that he could catch up so easily.
